I remember him at Farmerville and West Monroe. I guess I am just drawing a blank on where else he coached.

We held ours at Pedernales State Park. I grew up in a time were we didn't have Gatorade or "Dri-Fit" shirts and jerseys. The only thing we could look forward to was getting into the Pedernales River after practice to help cool off. Those temperatures had to always hover around the 100s.
Sometimes we'd kill a couple of Indians or a mammoth on the way home from practice.
Bear Bryant was our waterboy, I taught him how to smoke cigarettes.

Yeah, I really miss my ex-Marine coach making us run 8 milers at the arse crack of dawn, especially when we had to bear crawl the last half mile or so. That was really fun.
I will say this - we were the most physically fit team in our part of Georgia. Too bad we sucked at everything else.

I was in that 03 era where they got rid of two a days in full pads due to kids in Florida dying from heat stroke. We only had a week of them and not in full pads.

I bet you used to walk 10 miles in 10 feet of snow with 50 books in your backpack on the way to school while making sure you made breakfast for your siblings.

I used to have a recurring nightmare. Probably to about 23, thought it occasionally crept in until my late 20's.
"Late for 2-a-days" woke up knowing I was prepping for a 6am practice or woke up thinking I was already there and miserable.

I miss the first day of 2-a-days, The first day of full pads, and game days. Don't miss a whole lot in between.

Two a days blew and spring practice was the worst. Nothing like playing under the Friday night lights though.
