Greely smells bad. And not because of weed. Just FYI.

DC is a great city to be a young professional.

San Antonio is a big "meh" for me, but I don't have a lot of experience there.

This. Except for TX, I'd rather be dead.

The girlfriend and I have an opportunity to move from New Orleans (lifelong residents) to one of these locations in the next year. We are professionals, outdoorsy, athletic, not hippies, and are looking for a change of pace in life.

Which would you choose, and why?

Greely has a lot of Hispanic residents (similar to Pueblo) but you're still in CO.

The rest are a toss up.

Colorado - multiple seasons and climates; close to denver
North Carolina - proximity to New Orleans and scenery
Oregon - will you mind the 364 days of rain?

VA/DC - the people ruin it
TX/AZ - it's a fricking desert; you'll miss seeing water, grass, and trees

Eta: You'll probably get used to the smells that people describe in greeley, but why not live west of them?

My impression was that Greeley was kind of a dump.

It's not the best place in CO to live.

It is. It's flat farmland. It gets pounded by the wind in spring and fall, smells like a dead cow's arse all summer, and turns in to a frozen tundra in the winter.

out of those choices?

Eugene, OR or DC

but if you went to Greely, could you live in Fort Collins and commute? Greely isn't that great but Fort Collins is a cool town

Greeley, Co. Perhaps not directly in Greeley, but nearby would be ok. Close to everything outside. Stay up wind as the feed lots put out the odor in the summer.

Yeah, um. I see the people saying Greeley, CO and this post here is about the closest evidence I have seen of anybody actually having been there. Greeley, CO is home to the Univ of Northern Colorado and is complete craphole of a town. It's a combination college/packing plan town. It's not even in the mountains, it's out on the plains. I guess you would be close to the mountains, but still, not like we're talking Aspen or Breckenridge, or even Boulder.

Of the choices given Greeley would be so far down on the list it would cease to exist.
