The girlfriend and I have an opportunity to move from New Orleans (lifelong residents) to one of these locations in the next year. We are professionals, outdoorsy, athletic, not hippies, and are looking for a change of pace in life.

Which would you choose, and why?

Eugene, OR
San Antonio, TX
Tempe, AZ
Greely, CO
Washington DC
Blacksburg, VA
Greensboro, NC

Every single one of those would be better than Nola. Good luck and get out before you get killed.

Unfortunately, my profession mandates that I can't.

Live in Scottsdale and work in Tempe, they border each other and we don't have traffic.

I'd eliminate Eugene from consideration as there are too many free spirits living in the state of Oregeon.

San Antonio, would be a consideration only because you are minutes away from Austin and New Braunsfel and a couple hours away from the coast. Still wouldn't live there.

North Carolina would probably appeal to me the most.

Perhaps not directly in Greeley, but nearby would be ok. Close to everything outside. Stay up wind as the feed lots put out the odor in the summer.

In that order.
Would not consider the other locations.

I heard that Greely does have an odor to it. But, rocky mountains.

Definitely not San Antonio.
DC is a nice place to live but short on the outdoors stuff, at least immediately within the city.
I'd go Eugene Or, Greely, CO, and Greensboro NC in no order.
