What type of rates are dealerships offering these days?

Not as good as my USAA I came pre-qualified for thanks to the Will Cover method
I think they offered 3.49 originally and I just said no and handed them my USAA information.
ETA:
They didn't even offer to match it, surprisingly. Got 2.69 from USAA.

Glad to be able to indirectly help.
What type of vehicle did you purchase?

Mazda CX-5 for the wife.
It is a new fully loaded 2016, but was only a few thousand more than a slightly used one so we went for it.
Great car and I got a great deal on it. The dealership was bought and the salesmen were all let go. I negotiated for 2 months before they got that news and then overnight he was cool with almost invoice price.
ETA:
This car but with a roof rack I got thrown in. The interior is very badass too and it drives like a sports car.

Mine is in the 650 range. While starting the home
Buying process a year and a half ago found out mine was around like 520. Looked into it and found out that Sallie Mae had fricked up on some of my loans that I had put on hold for 12 months and it showed up as me having multiple 90+ and 120+ day late hits. Also had a small hit from a credit card I had in college that I MAYBE put $50 on that my mom was supposed to pay that she never did
After a couple months of battling Sallie Mae they actually looked up and listen to our year old phone convo and heard proof that they told me they were on hold for a certain date. So they removed the late hits and I called Cap One and had the credit card one removed as well.
Ended up being ok I'm the end but it delayed our house buying process for a few months that was miserable.

A true testimonial on why it is very important to always know what is on your credit report.

I'm about to step into a dealership next week to finalize my deal.

That's P I M P Mr.Cover.
Damn solid.
My wife was so pissed at me because she legitimately needed a new car due to her 2004 BMW being a piece of shite and I took 3 months to square away a deal. I went into the dealership 3 or 4 times to negotiate and left. I would text the salesman and sales managers constantly.
It was worth every minute. Got a great price and tons of extras thrown in like free oil changes, roof rack, trailer hitch, tinted front windows, etc.
I got really lucky at the end that someone bought the dealership and gave them 30 days to get out. They just caved instantly so they could hit their bonus quotas for their severance package. He even admitted it to me.
Biggest lesson I learned: Don't rush these things and don't settle.

I was looking at that, but we got a Venza instead. leased it because she was trading in negative $3500 in equity and didn't want to have a down payment and wanted a note under $450.

The "If I" sales tactic. It works.

Great job of getting time on your side.
