Bienville has some good hunting there as does Jackson.

Worst has to be East Carroll.

They've probably shut down five or six other small towns' schools to get to that number.

Union does have the village of Truxno where Connie Ray Alford plead guilty to peonage in 1979.
quote:

MONROE, La., Nov. 22 (AP) — Connie Ray Alford owns a prosperous 300-acre cattle and chicken farm at Truxno, a onestore village in the red clay hills just south of the Arkansas state line. He calls it Welcome Home Ranch.

Mr. Alford was to go on trial Monday in Federal District Court, accused of enslaving two illegal aliens from Mexico and keeping them shackled and chained while they worked off a debt at Welcome Home Ranch. He pleaded guilty yesterday to one count of peonage...

...Mr. Alford's arrest last September, on his 40th birthday, was a jolt for the rural area, where he is a member of the Union Parish Police Jury, the parish governing body, and ranks as a leading citizen. ...

Louisiana Man Admits Holding Illegal Mexican Aliens in Peonage

When the feds raided Connie Ray, his son Jamie (nicknamed "Rodeo") had an acre of pot growing behind his trailer. Inside they found a stuffed bald eagle.

That same year we had the pot plane from Columbia crash on Jimmy Wade's property. In the aftermath, one of the pilots was being housed in the parish jail (tin building on top of the courthouse). He was said to be a Colombian Air Force officer. One day while he was trimming hedges out front, a dark car stopped and picked him up. He was never seen again.

I'm going to have to take up for Washington Parish.. The World's largest free fair also the largest fair/festival of any kind in Louisiana. Bogalusa paper mill and the largest areas of pine plantion forest in the state.

As for as famous people from here? Not so much,,but a lot of good athletes come from here including numerous d1 football players,,5 who made it to the nfl. Also one to the mlb.. All just in the past 10 years out of Franklinton high. Also Miss teen USA 2015

Bogalusa as a town sucks and lots of poverty. Franklinton is a nice town aesthetically.. And yeah the best watermelons in the United States.
Please keep It on the list though I don't want all y'all city folk trying to move here from across the lake.

A far more crucial question is: What's the most irrelevant precinct within the most RELEVANT parish in Louisiana?

Is it really the world's largest free fair anymore? I wouldn't mind if the fair association started charging a few bucks to get in. With extra money improvements could be made as well as better entertainment.

Lake Bruin FTW. Several years ago I dated a woman who grew up on Lake Bruin. We went there several times a year for gatherings at her family's camp.

To this North Georgia boy it was a slice of heaven.

csb, I know.

Coushatta is the parish seat of Red River Parish. The Casino has nothing to do with the parish except the shared name.

Correct. Yet ...

The folks who work at the Welcome Center at the TX/LA line near Shreveport told us that they get people coming through all the time who, when asked where they are traveling, say they are headed to Coushatta to visit the Indian casino.

The workers explain that there is no Indian casino in Coushatta; it is in Kinder, 150 miles south of there.

But the old gamblers often refuse to believe them and proceed on to Red River Parish.

Winner

All this non-notoriety in close proximity to NOLA & Baton Rouge.

So for over 200 years no one of note has lived there or no thing of note has happened there.

That was hard to do.

Webster has to be up there and that's where I grew up. Minden, Springhill, and a bunch of little nothings in Sibley, Doyline, Cotton Valley etc. Good fishing on Bistineau but other than that can't think of much. Maybe Devin White and the Toyota flying in the air the other day keeps it partially relevant

Personally, Lake Bistineau has got to be the nastiest and trashiest lakes I've ever been on.
And having been to a majority of high school football stadiums, the folks in Springhill (North Webster) were the rudest most stuck up bunch of assholes I've ever met. Reminded me of Florida fans. Sadly, because of my experience with their little football team I have formed an opinion about that player to which I shall keep to myself (hell of an athlete though)!

So I vote Webster as most useless.
