No idea. since I was around 12 I wanted to join the military. So I joined the USMC as soon as I could and left for boot camp 3 days after I graduated HS

I've had numerous "real" jobs and paid for my education out of my own pocket, before I joined. I know you're a troll, but you dumb

Got expelled from school in 9th grade, worked a series of shite jobs. Best choice I ever made. It helped me get control of my life. Now I'm [med]retired and getting paid to go to college on Rebman61's dime.

Mine was a combination of the realization that if I went straight to A&M I would likely end up in trouble and out of school and the desire to piss off my old man.
I don't regret a minute of my 6 years in the Navy.

I've discussed this before, but the military is nothing more than welfare for those that are either too dumb for school and or too dumb for a real job. They don't know shite about "sacrifice". Maybe they should thank me for paying their bills. fricking leaches

I had always wanted to be in the military. Ever since I was a little boy and we used to have rock wars on the playground in elementary school.

I wanted to, that's about it. I did 20 years and can honestly say I would not change a single thing.

A desire to fly and a calling to serve. Planned to be in the USAF as early as my freshman year in HS. Went to UGA, got commissioned and now retirement eligible. Probably hanging it up in 2016.

I joined to pay for college. I did reserves. It was a great decision. It paid for school and allowed me to travel a good bit too and see different parts of the world I wouldn't have otherwise seen.
So I joined bc there was no TOPS when I graduated high school and I didn't have any scholarship offers. I came from a lower middle class family and my parents didn't have a college fund of any sort set up.

Watching the army/navy game when I was seven or eight yrs old, I asked my dad which one was better. He told me that they are about the same but the Marines put out the best and toughest product.
Then after 9/11 I found myself really irate at sand people and I wanted a way to be able to shoot them.
Best decision I've ever made.

Imagine that "gonna end up in trouble". I can't imagine the shite show our military is with all these dumbasses that have to join.
Something I've always thought about, imagine how bad arse our military would be if all the frick ups didn't join and your average hard working guy joined.
