People on here can say what they want about education, being poor, or whatever, but if you haven't served then I feel sorry for you...

It is an experience that only those of us who have served can ever really explain to each other. I've seen and done more than most people will in life and will walk away with stories and friendships that normal civilians won't experience.

I once thought I was "too smart" for this job, but when you're actually in the inside, you quickly learn how much intelligence you actually need for a lot of these jobs. A lot of the greatest people in history have had military backgrounds, so I guess that says something.

I have an education, no debts and continue to save money, further my education and serve my country. If you being the president of a corporation or a process operator, is what you chose to do and makes you happy, then congrats to you. Just remember that this country is free for a reason, and continues to be, because of the great people who serve. Your position in life doesn't make you any better than me or the next man.

And whether a person was poor or well off, I don't really see the problem. Either way they are doing the job that you were too pussy to do.

They told me I was stupid, poor, came from a broken home, and literally had no other choice.

I kind of always had a plan, but if there were any doubts, I had a pretty compelling sales pitch. Got a fam ride in an F-4, I already had a lot of flight time. My mentor, in the brief, says, "I'm going to get the gear up for you, because we'll blow threw 250kts.(the limit for retraction,) pretty quick, but after the burners are lit, it's all yours." Within a minute we're looking at the curvature of the earth. I dug it.

ETA: I immediately suggested a new version of the g-suit, because the blood loss from the hard on,almost made me pass out.

I've discussed this before, but the military is nothing more than welfare for those that are either too dumb for school and or too dumb for a real job. They don't know shite about "sacrifice". Maybe they should thank me for paying their bills. fricking leaches
