I grew up in a military family. Dad was 27 years Navy. He retire a full Commander (Mustang at that) although he never pushed me I always new I would join the military at some time. Time was 1968 the battle for the city of Hue was virtually shown live on late night news. This was one of the bloodiest and longest battles of the war. Soon after that I joined the Navy. I was able to get into the SESBEES and although requesting duty in Viet Nam several times the only places I saw were Puerto Rico and Havana, Cuba.
To ALL that served
GEAUX NAVY..... BEAT ARMY !!!

Yeah that's 2nd Bat in MS, good group of guys. Drilled with them a few times and did some jumps. Just had their selection course a couple weeks back and a buddy of mine got picked. That just gets you accepted at the unit. Then you have to go through the full SF selection and 18 MOS process. Very tuff to get in.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was going into my Sophmore year of college at Kent State University. I had been in school for about 2 weeks when September 11, 2001 happened. I remember thinking that this was something profound and life altering. Sept 11, 2001 was going to be another day "That lives in infamy" just like Pearl Harbor. This was bigger then me, this was going to be more significant then anything I would learn at Kent State....of all places! I withdrew from school 6 days later and enlisted in the U.S. Army in September of 2001. I served in Iraq in 03'-04' for a period of 15 months. To this day, serving my country is the proudest thing I have ever done in my life. I will never forget the events that led up to my enlisting in the military.

GO ARMY....beat navy!!
