I’ve been an RN for 25 years . Alot of people shot or cut to pieces . I’m glad the Kids go to Dell pediatric hospital. That stuff just hangs with you .

My own, I dove for a baseball and caught my hand in the grass as my body kept moving. Tore my handle muscles requiring a plate, screws, and all. After it happened I could hold my hand upright and my thumb would touch my wrist

Saw a guy that was hit by a truck. Head was smashed and police hadn’t even covered it up.

Ran up to a vehicle in an accident as soon as it happened. A woman driving a Ford Explorer had spun several times and slammed into a tree On the driver’s side. She had a split in her face and neck from her forehead to her collar bone. Dead as hell on the spot. I can still remember her full name, age at death and her town’s name. I think of her every time I drive past that spot.

I had the Tennessee was it? running back thing happen to my knee when I was 18. Sounded like a .22 went off when it happened. Two players I was playing with, who got the best view of it, immediately vomited. Just about the entire back half of my leg, from my ankle to my arse cheek, turned black and blue for weeks.

Upon arriving at 2id in Korea before getting split to our units there is some small company that assigns you to units and you stay there a few days. When I got there the company commander decided to commit suicide by dumping gas on his head and lighting himself up in the bath tub. He changed his mind real quick and was running down the hall burning trying to get help.
Another time in Iraq I saw a haji cook off a grenade in his hand. Pretty terrible outcome.

An ex friend of mine shot himself in the head with a hollowpoint. It took him about 25 minutes to die. It was hard for me to feel any compassion for him. I know that seems harsh but that's just the way I felt at the time.

Some years ago, there was a accident at the Greenwell Springs Rd. and Lanier Dr. A 18 wheel loaded Apple Sanders gravel truck traveling west on Greenwell Springs Rd. hit a car pulling onto GSR broadside. The car was occupied by 2 young ladies who had been to GOHS on the final day of class. The driver was decapitated, and her head was laying in the grass at the corner of the intersection. I'd been at the Pak-A-Sak store which was maybe 100 yds. from the accident and ran toward it not expecting to see what I did. It was late May and the Ligustrums were blooming, and even today when I smell Ligustrums I think of that day.

Years ago on the causeway was 5 cars behind a stalled vehicle that the trailing car couldn’t avoid. Following impact, his car burst in flames with him inside. When he was pulled out it was impossible to determine what race he was. The memory of the smell of burning flesh combined with his screaming and the hysteria of other drivers is hard to forget. He actually lived a few more weeks but passed away after multiple surgery attempts.

Dude filleted his finger on a butchers meat saw when he tried to clear a piece of meat behind the blade and the back plate you slide the meat your cutting against.
