re: Georgia state senator who opposed motorcycle helmets dies in motorcycle accident - bgoodwin
Two things here...he's riding a cruiser, and he's anti helmet...I bet he was wearing some ridiculous "novelty" helmet or a half helmet. BTW, I ride almost daily, and would NEVER consider riding without a helmet. I've been saved by them more than once....

With the number of head injuries and deaths from head injuries in car crashes,I guess you'd support this policy being required for operating ANY vehicle without a helmet?...

re: Quitting Dip - bgoodwin
33 days and counting. Started dip in April '01, used a can every day for the past 10 years or so. It ain't easy, but can be done. The first 5-6 days were pretty rough. Atomic Fireballs, Hot Tamales, cinnamon TicTacs...that's the only way I made it through....

re: Pipe Tobacco Thread - Pictures, Tips and General Discussion Welcome - bgoodwin
When my grandfather died,I inherited his smoking pipes, he farmed his whole life so nothing expensive. I'm always on the lookout in antique shops, I've seen some pretty nice pipes for cheap. Made a great deal a couple years ago on a Nat Sherman Freehand....

Look up gatlinburlier.com I prefer Newfound Blend, it's not as aromatic as most, but the lack of sugar lets it burn very cool. Their Vanilla smells fantastic....

re: Educate me on felt cowboy hats - bgoodwin
Silverbelly looks nice, but is virtually impossible to clean if you get it dirty. There are cleaners available, but it's really just powder that hides the dirt. If you're not planning to wear it every day, silverbelly should do just fine....

J.W. Brooks...a bit more than your price point, but custom made and 100% beaver. You'll never need to buy another hat. I went to his shop a few months ago while I was in Texas, it was very interesting to see hats being made totally by hand. ...
