I don't see the point in getting an $80k toyota when you can get the Lexus version for $83k.

IN stripped form i'm pretty sure they are the same vehicle. Every Lexus I looked at in 2010 was $88k though. No dealers order them stripped. Once again, the LC is for someone who wants a not so flashy understated 80k vehicle LOL

What makes the Land Cruiser so special that it would be priced like a luxury brand? I get that it is iconic, but the latest design is pretty ugly. I don't recall ever riding in one. For anyone that has, what is the appeal?
Not familiar with the late models - I owned a 1992 (last year of the big 6 cyl engine) put 265,000 miles on it - never a problem with it - the man I sold it to still has it up in Colo. I do know that they are still made in Japan.

Lotssssssssssss of shallow, superficial people in this world.

I too think they look awesome and I guess if I had millions, I might consider it just because of that. But I'd have to be a super rich person. Otherwise, I see vehicles as a depreciating asset who's depreciation rate and maintenance costs are HIGHLY important.

In a moment of weakness I test drove some and I really want but Im not "there" yet.

I have family with the Cayenne. I'm sure after awhile they'll regret getting it over a LC.

We bought our daughter one this past summer as she just turned 16. We just like the way it looks. My son says he wants one when he turns 16 but he doesn't know yet that I am getting him a 68 Z28 Camaro. I don't know if the price is worth it for the LC but she likes to be popular and money is not an issue....so why not.

You're getting your daughter a new LC? Nice. Looking to adopt any 40 year old "children"?

don't think it's just anecdotal, look at the JD Power ranking on reliability

Agreed. I use JD Power a good bit.

I meant more the stories we see on here.

A 1968 anything is really unsafe as a DD.

Just something to consider.

Not to concerned about the safety issue. His friend has a 65 Mustang and he has never had issues. His dad is a real douche if you know what I mean. I am just trying to insure my son has a cooler car than the douchebags son. The one I am looking at is a show car and his friends isn't even all original. Plus, it looks like an Earl Sheib paint job.

Let me know when your sister sells that escalade in 3 years. I'll give her $21,000 for it.

here's the 411:

- open DISH/DTV guide, search for 'range rover' episode of 'wheeler dealers'.

- record show

- watch as the EXPERT former RR mechanic attempts to bring one back to life to sell and if you're not horrified by the end of that episode, go for it.
