She isn't saying that at all.

Google search for GP and you find slim pickings.

GPs already essentially don't exist anymore. You should search for "Primary Care Physician," "Internal Medicine," or "Family Medicine." I don't say this to correct you or point out the misnomer since most people confuse PCP and GP, but absolutely no board eligible/board certified physician will refer to/advertise their self as a "GP."

This is meant to hopefully help you increase the number of results you find.

Yes she is Nurse.

I know when someone is on their death bed. I had to deal with this with my Mom and yes, we pulled the plug.

3 1/2 years ago, two doctors came in and told me and my wife they wanted me to go on hospice care and they told us that I had less then 6 months to live.

Told them, not no but hell no. Get me back up on my feet and you're fired! Saw one of those doctors last month at the transplant center. She couldn't even look at me in the eyes. Bitch.

Count your lucky stars. That's a fantastic EHR.

Try working with any product made by McKesson. You'll hope for Epic back or a move back to paper charts in a matter of minutes.

Wait....that sounds familiar...what is their popular EHR product? CERNER? Cause yeah...CERNER sucks.

EPIC is better than other EHRs...I will give them that. I'm just aggravated at having issues accessing it on our computers. Once I'm able to log in...I'm fine and find the program very user friendly. I just don't think our hospital's IT dept considered just how many updates the program has and didn't factor that in with the ancient computers they have in our hospitals.

Eugenics

Did you watch The Knick? AWESOME show if you haven't. They cover eugenics fairly well. And psychiatry... In 1900.

In nursing school we got to tour the forensics facility in Jackson, LA(one of my instructors used to work there). Part of that tour they took us to one of the original buildings. Saw the electroshock therapy machines they used back then. And the small dirt space underneath the building where they used to just chain crazy people up. Was very chilling seeing where the chains used to hang in the brick there.

Webstation for Physicians or something like that.

Corner makes Powerchart which is about on-par with Epic from my experience.

Hospital IT doesn't understand that a 10 minute delay is often unacceptable. It's only been in the last year they acknowledged that EHR is wildly disorganized when it comes to aiding in the workflow of a primary care visit. You have people with great ideas and programming skills and people with practical knowledge. They have a difficult time communicating to come up with an effective product in general.

You are correct. I was making this more laymen friendly until the HC people came in.

Most of the internal medicine guys I deal with in the ER are hospitalists or intensivists. They are over worked and it shows. Not somebody I want to see regularly.

I'm just curious as the population of post baby boomers ages, how concierge medicine holds up? They can strike me as dentists. Dentists only want to deal with you in cleanings and fillings. Once your teeth get fricked up, they send you off.

Tell me about it. Anytime I try calling IT their answer is for me to just turn off the computer and restart it.

Sorry but that isn't gonna work when a child is screaming in pain. How would you respond if your child's nurse told you "sorry I have to restart this computer first before I can give this med, it will only take 15 minutes or so"?

You are so far off base...I would save everyone if I could. But until you are forced to essentially torture people for the peace of family members you cannot possibly understand. I have done things to the human body that I thought should have been criminal because a family member said to do everything. So how bout you frick off you judgemental prick.

This will be an unpopular opinion here but we need to find away to increase the MDs pay/reimbursements or we are all in trouble. Every year it seems the contracts decrease their pay. Would you take a pay cut yearly? Their school costs increase, their

We wouldn't need to charge what we do if we weren't burdened with such high overhead from having to deal with the gov't and insurers. Streamline the payment system. Cut out all the middle men. There's too many administrative costs factored in. For me to make what I want or need to make, I have to collect at least 2-3x's that. Not to mention all the time I have to spend doing bullshite clerical work instead of seeing pt's.

I could accept at least 50-60% less and still come out the same if I didn't have to mess with insurers. The whole system has become bloated and inefficient. People can say what they want and hate on doctors, but ultimately the costs get passed onto consumers.

We aren't even 100% sure how AIDS originated then how would killing everyone who has it solve anything?

How would we even be able to further examine the immune system since our immune system would not be able to recognize the antigens that have invaded the body. That goes for any serious immune condition.

How would we be able to look at blood work?

I don't like the fact AIDS is still around but without our growing research on AIDS, immune system, and other things wewould not be where we are today in regards to how we treat it.

Why are all of these guys charging an enrollment fee? Why not just charge a real world fee for an office visit? What is that number? It is not what insurance says it is on your statement, it is not what a doc says it is when you currently ask a cash price of a doctor who takes insurance.

They do this to cut down on volume and offer better, more convenient care to those that can afford it. It's a retainer. Nurses and office staff have to be paid if you come in or not. And you have to have people to bill and file insurance. The costs are huge. People can't fathom how expensive a medical practice is to run. You have to make it in volume or people can pay. Can't have cheap, accessible and good.

Were you misdiagnosed perhaps?

Did you make any self changes? Sounds like your doctor can learn more from you.

He has severe (I believe Class IV) heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. The qualification for hospice is a disease which will lead to the death of the patient within 6 months if untreated and allowed to run its natural course.

It's very unlikely he was misdiagnosed. He and his doctors did a good job of treating him.

Well, class IV without treatment would have most likely resulted in death within 6 months. Offering it was the right thing to do. Not everyone wants to fight death kicking and screaming. Palliative care discussions should begin at diagnosis not at end stage. You can choose how to die with dignity and not forgo treatment. But again this is how the undereducated publics misconceptions translate into accusations of playing god or death squads.

No one knows where it ends, but you just described the next step - a split system. One system will be for those with means and one for those without, just like Private Schools, Stadium Club Seats, VIP Tours of Disney, First Class seats, etc. Everyone gets access to the basic services, but some people pay for premium service.

This.
