what the frick is wrong with you tards? Why are y'all discussing food stamps/welfare in a WIC subsidy thread?

So if WIC doesn't cover it, and she chose to spend a couple of singles on her and her husband, what's the problem?
And it's a utopian article in that it's one of the few examples of a bloated and wasteful government program actually accomplishing its goal. So, not utopian at all. I would like to see fact-checked her statement that Obama's extensions affected her benefits.

the title says food stamps. I wasn't going to read the article because a woman writing a article is like watching a dog try to play the piano. IMO wic should be picked up at a warehouse where they give you the juice and shite, that way they can't hold up grocery lines with their poorness.

There really isnt any expense if the car is paid for already.
Gas, maintenance, and insurance are no longer expenses? It is expensive to maintain a Mercedes and if you are not going to maintain it, then what is the point of keeping it as the reliable car. Also they should have at least sold the Honda for extra money even if it wasn't costing them anything (which it was).
Depending on where they live, any car may have been unnecessary as public transport is an option even if it is frowned upon in the south.

I also skipped over reading every response.

OP title is very misleading.
WIC is not foodstamps. It's a temporary voucher program for enumerated items for nutrition of a Mother and her newborns.
Its pretty much the title of the article

am I suppose to feel bad that she felt embarrassed and had to jump through hoops?
If i had it my way food stamp cards would be huge and it would be a totally humiliating experience to use them. It would then push people to get off as fast as possible. I see the need for a safety net to help people up when they fail but it should be a last resort and something that leads to behavior changes. IMO nothing is better for behavior changes than embarrassment.
I think the people who abuse programs like this wouldn't be embarrassed one bit. They've got plenty of other reasons to be ashamed and don't seem to care.
Its people like the chick in the article who'd be embarrassed and it looks like she was already pretty motivated to get out of her situation.

i don't get not selling the mercedes, they could have sold it and bought a safe reliable 7500-10k car and been just fine and had plenty on top for groceries and living expenses. I guess that makes too much sense.
Yeah, but then they'd actually drive a car that represents their economic status, and that just won't do.

we’d gone from making a combined $120,000 a year

They drive a car that costs more than one of their entire salaries?
These 2 are imbeciles. No wonder this country is going to hell in a handbag

Totally agree. Most people in this country live check to check. I have no problem helping a hardworking guy out who falls on hard times. It could really happen to anybody.

Anyone can fall on hard times. Two people with good jobs, that through an unfortunate set of circumstances, got in a bind. It happens.
They got their act together and have returned to being productive, tax-paying citizens.
