This. Make sure you tell everyone you self-identify as black like that chick from Seattle and you'll be in with the cool kids.

I would love to see a thread on this. Every time I drive by the church of ephesus on burkank I think "that shite has got to be a cult."

Establish a reputation for always having cocaine. This can be a little pricey but you'll have more friends than you'll know what to do with. Or church. That's a good one too.

I know what you mean when you say its tough to break the friend barrier with people you actually wanna hang out with.

What helped me is anytime someone asks you to hang out, do it, even if you dont feel like doing anything or it doesnt sound fun.

Mutual friends is the easiest way to make more friends.

Also, dont get caught up in making a ton of friends.. Just find a couple guys you enjoy hanging out with and the rest will work itself out.

I had a long comment about life and growing out of my nerdy stage all typed out. Then I thought about it and have a one word answer.

Cocaine.

Do you have a job? I made a ton of good friends working in restaurants in college. Go check out which restaurants have the best talent and get a job there.

Ya know you don't have to commit the crime to register as a sex offender. Just put your name on the list and boom, face time with all your neighbors. See if something develops.

I'm in the same boat. Moved to Houston a while back. I'd rather be active than sit at a bar and frankly not much of a drinker. I play a lot of golf, exercise, go to Astros and Rockets games all solo. Hard to meet people or make friends by the random conversation anymore. Everyone is glued to their phones, have ear buds in, or already is with their friends. Pretty lonely place out there for a mid to upper 30s single guy that's not much of a drinker. I'd say 90% of social activity for singles involves people wanting to sit around and just drink.
