Frankly, it would be far more informative if the games didn't vary in length year to year because then, you'd see people keep getting better in relation to the prior year.
Not to mention, some of the most renown international competitions do not vary. The 100 Meters doesn't change, but we appreciate the completion itself, and the ability to see an apples fo apples comparison across competions. Unless it's an obstacle competition like American Ninja Warrior, where completion is the main measure, I don't see the value in changing the competition much.

At least he posted a real article today. Yesterday he posted a fake article about someone having sex with a pig in a Walmart bathroom and thought it legitimately happened. Dude is dumb.

And no one watches that shite outside of the Olympics

They come up with different events in CF for viewership and interest, like announcing the day of the competition. It adds drama and flair. Frankly it needs stuff like that

crossfit is laughable, but this mostly proves that women should not be competing at elite fitness levels; their bodies are just not designed for that type of stress.

Actually, the rates of injury are higher in crossfit. LINK

There's actually articles on that very site that have the opposite opinion. Here's one LINK, albeit it's a interview with a crossfitter who is also a PT.

That said, there's some published studies out there that show crossfit's injury rates are no higher than other sports and activities.

I don't think it's been around long enough to really conclude the negative effects, but all I'll say is usually injury prevention has as much to do with supervision as it does with programming. I wholeheartedly disagree with doing Olympic lifts for time, that I will take to the grave, but beyond that I think crossfit can be just as safe as anything else with proper supervision.

And here is the problem.

A thousand bucks and a weekend course and you too can run a box.

To be fair, the same can be said for personal trainers these days. Go to any average gym and I'll bet more than half of the trainers don't have anything more than a weekend certification, if that. It's sad really.

See that's the problem. I'm not saying those trainers are any better.

I'm just talking about crossfit. The fact other people suck doesn't excuse crossfit suck.

The rising of crossfit reminds me of the emergence of all the karate and taekwondo dojos that opened up; some were good and some were just in it for the money only

A thousand bucks and a class yes you can run a box. However, ppl will figure out if you are a good trainer or not. I've been to 3 in br and I won't leave the one I'm at after seeing other gyms.

When I was in BR I was at Red Stick Crossfit. It's been a couple years since then but it was a great place. Knowledgeable coaches and the owner and his wife are great people.

The cultish and pretentious nature of many crossfitters make them an easy target, I agree, but to consistently point out flaws in one while ignoring others makes it seem like you have an axe to grind.

I'm indifferent at this point. I used to be a big crossfit critic, but seeing the amount of nonsense that goes on in the fitness world, I realized my hate for them was more about the people than the program. Meatheads and a slew of other types of workout people are just as aggravating.

Geaux Crossfit off of Sherwood.

Plenty of room inside and a huge 400M parking lot to run on outside.

All of the coaches are great.

I enjoy a good Crossfit thread.

I used to be a hater but started Crossfit about a year ago just as a change of pace. It may or may not be something that I can do long term, we shall see.

I think it's all in the programming. I researched several gyms before joining one. I feel like our coach does well programming. There are also plenty of scaling options for those that are just starting or just not that fit.

I kind of agree with the article, i wanted to see all those top athletes do murph, but when I saw how it treated Kara Webb and Annie, I started questioning the volume of programming in this years games. Kara looked like she having an actual stroke.

To each their own..........Bengal, you're still my homie.

But you are always doing the Crossfit sucks shtick, we get it, you don't like it.

I have a masters in ex science, I go to CF, I have not seen one single injury that doesn't occur with other activities such as golf, tennis or any other activity. shite there are studies tgat say you are more likely to suffer an injury playing golf than CF.

That said, the games workouts were just stupid. They were unsafe and Kara Webb was spot on

Demographics of those 2 groups would explain this a lot more than the activities themselves.

Possibly, the age of my gym is about the same as the age of the folks at the local golf courses, but an injury from activity is the same, no one is freaking out about those strains
