Also I'm 100% sure if a pit bull came running at me in a hall and I was holding a gun I would try to avoid/subdue/disengage/ protect myself until I had absolutely no other option than to shoot it, like it's latched onto my arm. Of course I'm a dog lover

Palmdale has body cams. We'll see if this really weird sounding story is BS or not one day.

Why can't the cop just shoot the dogs teeth out so he can't hurt the officer? smh

Are lawyers, doctors and CPA's attcked by pitbulls and criminals as part of the job? Do police officers get paid as much as lwayers, doctors and CPA's?

Sure you would. Have you ever been attacked by a pitbull?

It's happened plenty with non-pits.

Here in metro Atlanta, a cop killing an "aggressive" 7 year old golden retriever (read: family pet) made national news.

How are you going to "avoid" if you and the dog at in a hall? How much time do you think you'd have to subdue or disengage? When it latches onto your arm, exactly how are you going to shoot it, especially if it is latched on to your shooting arm?

It gets dismissed somewhat because they are only dogs, but it is the perfect example of the militarization and "shoot first" mentality of police these days.

Yeah, I don't want to get onto cops who open fire when some junkyard pit bull comes after them while they're on the property serving warrants. And honestly, that might be the typical case.

But the attitude goes beyond that, and is really "we're cops, regardless of why we're here, if my ignorance about dogs makes me fearful, your dog dies before I get scratched."

If you carry a gun for a living, I expect you not to kill a normal family's lab because it barked at you and moved toward you. Particularly when you're there for some other reason that isn't the fault of the dog owner.

Perhaps the most egregious of the whole thing is how police dogs are treated like cops legally if you frick with them, but your dogs are property they can freely destroy. bullshite

Some cops are really really stupid

So a cop can not defend himself?

The above statement is like blaming a woman for getting raped. She dressed provocatively or she came on to the attacker or she was in an area frequented by prostitutes.
