In his ruling, Coady wrote that the motive of creating a new school district is an “admirable goal.”
“From the testimony, it appears this may still be accomplished by other means despite the misinformation they earlier received, which gave them the impression that a municipality was required to initiate the formation of a new school district,” Coady said in his ruling.

So can it be done or not?

A very bad sign of things present and things to come since it will just continue to get worse.

Vote with your feet people and get the frick out of there.

The Central and Zachary efforts faced similar opposition in the courts.

SG will appeal, and prevail. The people have spoken.

St. George isn’t a community it’s a group of suburban neighborhoods that are part of Baton Rouge just not within the defined city limits. To act like it’s a separate community is completely disingenuous.

This the truth and people know it…

But no..nobody here wanted to hear that it was problematic and would cause trouble for the incorporation effort and yet here we are.

What exactly is problematic?

I don't understand the opinion in which it refers to St. George's budget for providing services. Where does the judge obtain the 2% sales tax figure to estimate St. George's revenue? Doesn't the sales/use tax rate equate to at least 4%? Furthermore, He doesn't incorporate property taxes into the St. George budget?

com·mu·ni·ty

1. a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.

2. a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.

Sounds like a community to me

I've been downvoted into oblivion for the last 5 years for pointing out that the law enforcement money situation isn't as simple as the SG organizers painted it out to be, and that's with me supporting the creation of SG.

Other than incorporation what other method could St. George use if we wanted to have our own police force?

Nope,

I was kidding. I seemed like Brett Furr was trying to keep Ollie muzzled. St. George will probably win on appeal.

This was the most American thing ever. A group of people decide they want to change things and try to do so within the system and then when that doesn’t work they go around door to door to petition to get a vote to make their own system. Said system passes by a vote of the people and our betters claim they know better.

It has been proven over and over again in recent years, not just in the US but in the UK (see Brexit, etc) that voting really no longer matters.

Vote however you want. The powers that be (and don’t think the so called ‘conservatives’ are truly on your side) will always get what they want, either now or in the near future.

Your vote doesn’t matter anymore unless you’re on the correct side.

Probably not even that much. NBR is a complete drain on the city. Takes most of the resources and provides zero tax revenues.
