The proposal to split St. George from the rest of the capital city

This has to come from The Advocate. It’s so inaccurate.

So if elections don’t matter can we have a random federal judge in Texas declare Joe Biden’s election invalid because he sucks?

That’s essentially what is happening here.

Ultimately the people voted for it. It’s going to happen even if some people don’t like the results.

Lol...when has that ever stopped any of the Black mayors of Baton Rouge?

I thought judges are supposed to interpret laws, not judge whether Baton Rouge would be “harmed”

All due respect but I can't believe you guys still live in that city or even close to it. NOLA is Detroit and BR is Flint.

What makes you think an appeals court will be more willing to listen than this judge/activist was?

Just curious- how can a judge determine a city can’t balance a budget when it has not yet tried to do so? What metric are they using to determine this?

To think we all live in EBR Parish; yet the judge believed only certain folks have the right to incorporate. BR, Baker, Zachary and Central have rights under the state constitution that we don’t have. It’s a real shame.

The difference is Baker, Zachary, and Central have always been separate communities that decided to incorporate.

St. George isn’t a community it’s a group of suburban neighborhoods that are part of Baton Rouge just not within the defined city limits. To act like it’s a separate community is completely disingenuous.

There is still the state Supreme Court. Either side was going to appeal. That said, I'm shocked by the verdict.

The Court of Appeals is next, not the Supreme Court.

You are correct. I've been out of the fight for a while.

If you are a white conservative or moderate and you don't flee Baton Rouge / New Orleans in the next 3 years you honestly deserve whatever is coming

Now you are making up stuff.

BR is a city. All neighborhoods are different. All of BR isn’t alike. The same thing eith Baker, Zachary and Central.

The state constitution doesn’t say you have to live in the same neighborhood, zip code or community to become a city. You know better than that.

You are spouting BS.

You aren't wrong. The whole premise from the beginning was way more "not baton rouge" as opposed we "we are st George". I still get the drive, not being baton rouge is really desirable. I'm pulling for the SG contingent because I think most of BR deserves to be razed to the ground so the problems can be cleaned out. It'll never happen though.
