How did this school zone not keep the perp from bringing a gun?

The school zone is to direct traffic. The actual area he is working is not on the school's property.

I'm from that area and they don't dick around. This guy will get caught, be given a max sentence, and then you'll never hear about him again.

As it should be.

Was it within 1000 feet of the school? Then it is a firearm free zone.

It's on highway 90. I'm not sure how that plays into it, but I'm quite sure thousands of drivers drive down that portion of hwy 90 each day with a gun in their car.

Anyway, that's not the point of the thread. Hope the cop pulls through. Him being taken to University means it was life threatening.

I am interested to hear what this was all about. The cops car was parked on the side of the highway like usual. The truck was perpendicular to the cop car in the gas station parking lot and maybe half a car length ahead of the car. It made for abput a 12-15 yard shot. There were all sorts of papers and other items from inside the cop car spread our all over the ground On the drivers side. The truck just looks like a plain jane 2014 or newer gmc...didnt look flashy at all. The motive seems like it would be some sort of personal issue and not just because he was a cop. I really have no clue obviously but it caused a pretty significant backup in traffic for sure.

Given the area that's what I would assume

The St. Charles Parish sheriff's deputy that was shot Thursday morning while directing school traffic in Paradis had gotten into a heated argument with his shooter seconds before he was gunned down.

Also they don't get to automatically shoot the violator.

That's moronic to think that.

No they don't

so every cop around wants to be apart of it.

This implies they all want to be a part of the apprehension because according to you they have the green light to shoot someone.

Don't try and back track on what you said.

A firearm free zone is feet not yards and the schools are just over 1000 feet from the road. The school zone refers to the road laws because of the kids, busses and vehicles that have to cross HWY 90.
