Why do people who live in the northeast and Midwest love his socialist ideas so much
Because they don't have a significant population that is culturally predisposed to lethargy, promiscuity, and general dysfunction. ...

re: The Democratic National Convention Thread™ - Stronger Together - OleWar
He is talking about when people were pissed at Puerto Ricans for committing terrorist acts like shooting up the U.S. Congress and being generally criminal in the 1960s. Now they are just special snow flakes. Their country should be given independence....

re: Duke's entry in Senate race helps democrats - OleWar
I wouldn't rule out Fleming as competitive. He has a high appeal to the Evangelicals and North Louisiana. Kennedy and Boustany can both be painted as too moderate and I believe Fleming may be leading in fund raising from outside PACs...

re: Duke's entry in Senate race helps democrats - OleWar
. Fayard is not a serious candidate. Campbell is.
How is she not a serious candidate? She is much more in line with the National Democrat establishment than Campbell, worked in the Clinton administration, is close with the Landrierus . And her father has probably dropped a shite t...

re: Duke's entry in Senate race helps democrats - OleWar
Check out Foster' site as well. He is running a Bell Edwards campaign (even touting the endorsement), down home conservative democrat pro-life, pro-gun. Fayard is going to clean up in New Orleans, amongst progressives, and will appeal to both women and especially black women across the state....

re: Duke's entry in Senate race helps democrats - OleWar
I agree, conventional wisdom and if I had to bet my life on it the election will come down to Campbell and Kennedy. In other words Kennedy doesn't fall to third but it is possible. I think Kennedy has peaked at the 30% or so in the polls and when the other Republicans attack him because he is the...

re: Duke's entry in Senate race helps democrats - OleWar
I think you are missing IB's point- The current Republican field is Kennedy, Fleming, Boustany, Maness, Cao and now Duke; and probably some other minor candidates. The Democrats are currently Fayard and Campbell with some minor candidates. Lets just assume the Republican, Democrat vote went 60...

re: I still don't understand why so many people find the dukakis tank thing so funny - OleWar
In hindsight, considering the current losers the parties have put up and the gimmicky shite they do now, it is not as bad as it once was. Dukakis had at least served in the Army in Korea after the war was over, there was some criticism because he took a student deferment and therefore missed the w...

re: Are you a critical thinker of your own politics? Are you objective? - OleWar
Politics is about subjective needs, wants, values and desires for everyone, to think otherwise is absurd. Only the extreme apolitical could be marginally objective but that would likely be someone of extreme ignorance as well. ...
