Yes you've given a very sound and scientific explanation. But can you explain why the holy ghost would choose to do this? I don't see much being accomplished besides someone looking silly for a moment. Do they ever come back with important information that the holy spirit told them?

There's nothing worse than the typical young, metrosexual, androgynous, "hip" pastors. They seriously creep me out.

Lots of these in Nashville.

Tons of hipster churches that hold service in concert venues and stuff like that. They make it a non-alcohol party with hot wings and music and football viewing afterwards, etc.

Creeps me out too.

But then again, all religion kind of creeps me out.

speaking in tongues is 100 percent legitimate.

This is how it works:

The Holy Spirit enters your body at a time when your senses are heightened by the glory of God. At that point you are possessed, not by a demon, but by the glory of God. Your body strengthens, your muscles flex, your eyes roll back in your head, and then the Holy Spirit speaks through you in a language only you and the Holy Spirit can understand.

It's a legitimate private conversation with God. And the Bible supports it.

Thanks bro I totally thought it was BS until you explained the shite out of it.

Most people at my church come from a Pentecostal or Catholic background. It's certainly a funny combination of Christian extremes on opposite ends of the spectrum. I grew up Catholic and just found it monotonous. I found myself uninterested in the same thing every single week. Never thought I'd be at a church that had that concert feel, but I grew to love it over time.

In the bible when they talked in tongues everyone who heard could understand despite the language they spoke. These people are just talking gibberish.

the "non denom" church that I grew up in would consider your "non denom" church a "House of Satan"

i'm not really religious but i've been to a TON of churches, and i prefer the methodical and pensive nature of the Catholic/Episcopal service. the crazy-energy style of the churches we're discussing just seems fake to me

Pentecostal women do stuff sober that Catholic/Lutheran women have to have alcohol to do.

Pentecostal > Catholic/Lutheran

Edited to add this refers to "Being Freaky" only
