Also, if you want to speak in tongues say the following:

She bought a Honda but wanted to buy a Hyundai

really fast with no breaks.

before going to a black church known for this, one of my friends gave me some phrase to use if i felt left out not speaking in tongues i forget what it is now

I feel like the Hispanic community overall is VERY Catholic

My church has the regular ole mass then the "Contemporary mass".

I like the music and the laid back contemporary mass.

creating an atmosphere where the whole point is to get people wrapped up in a burst of energy just seems like you're introducing variables that are only there to make up for the spirituality and religious message. it's a crutch. i guess that's the best way to describe it without being too harsh

one of my best friends was once the music coordinator for a huge Pentecostal church

he said they knew exactly what they were doing with timing of the music, when to go slow, when to go upbeat, etc

they studied that shite about how to work a crowd and get the emotions on where they wanted

Wouldn't a "conservative mass" mean less music and more strict? Maybe I'm over thinking this.

oh yeah. for sure

when i used to go for politics my group would sometimes quiz SFP the hethen. they were like, "did you feel anything?" and i was like "no". and it blew their mind, but the whole time i was just like "ok this is where it's ramping up....and now down for the emotional connection so they pay attention...and now it's ramping up so people feel good about that connection"

i go into total autistic-robot SFP mode

i'm not really religious but i've been to a TON of churches, and i prefer the methodical and pensive nature of the Catholic/Episcopal service. the crazy-energy style of the churches we're discussing just seems fake to me

I'm with you. I'm not religious at all, but I can at least appreciate the tradition of a Catholic service. My aunt's non denominational new age feel church with the rock music and evangelical preacher seems very manipulative in a cheesy used car salesman kind of way.

Yeah...Catholics do have their charismatics which are not really liked by other Catholics. It isn't really a norm unless you're in Malaysia or the Philippines. Of course some of the non denom converts can't let that shite go

Even though the apostles were speaking in an unknown language, the listeners were able to understand, each in his own language. There is no other mention of this type of speaking in tongues in the Bible.

Speaking in an ecstatic language was common among members of the early Christian churches, but no one could understand this form of speaking in tongues (1 Corinthians 14:2). Sometimes the speaker or another person would interpret the meaning.

Both cases were the work of the Holy Spirit. The apostle Paul classified speaking in tongues as just one of the spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:6-11, Romans 12:6-8). Paul was thankful for his own gift of speaking in tongues (1 Corinthians 14:18-19). But Paul told his churches that it was better practiced in private than in church, unless someone could interpret the ecstatic speech (1 Corinthians 14:23, 27-28). The gift of speaking in tongues was less important than the gifts of prophecy (1 Corinthians 14:2-5) and love (1 Corinthians 13:1). Nevertheless, speaking in tongues should not be forbidden (1 Corinthians 14:39).

Several other New Testament passages point to speaking in tongues as evidence of the working of the Holy Spirit (Mark 16:17, Acts 10:44-46, Acts 19:4-6).

However, there is nothing in the Bible saying speaking in tongues is necessary for salvation.

That is the thing though....every time there is a speaking of tongues in the Bible, as through the Holy Spirit, there's an interpreter present or people can understand them.

That is not the case in these churches.

here are a couple of people in the crowd that sometimes I feel like do certain things for attention, too...but overall most people are genuine that I've met.

The problem with churches is that they are full of people.

After many years of searching (almost became a Catholic) I found a place that I "get".

I hope all those that believe can find a place they enjoy as well. If you're looking for a place where you are going to 100% agree with everything and like 100% of the people that attend, I would suggest grabbing a Snickers.

AMEN

Everyone should find what's best for them and realize that you probably won't 100 percent agree with everything happening.

Tongues is merely an ancient alien language that was thought to our ancestors through Angels, who are technically aliens. They would come to earth and skull frick our women with their huge Nephimum dicks to induce incredible orgasims, causing them to speak in such a way.

Wake up people.

They don't spend $100K on sound (and lighting) for nothing. It's entertainment, not religion.
