Geez man. Sorry for offending your friends in the animal kingdom by describing a bull shark as "aggressive". BTW, from the perspective of a human they are aggressive regardless of their intention and motivation.

If bull sharks (which are an aggressive species) are so prevalent in the Gulf, why aren't there more shark attacks every year? I never hear of attacks.
Tourism $ and politics plays a role for sure.

Bull sharks don't just go after you.. they go after your entire family.

Orange Beach has nothing on the Tampa Area beaches.

quote:

Tampa Bay is an important nursery area for sharks. Bull sharks, for example, give birth near the mouth of the Alafia River, while young blacktip sharks are commonly found in Terra Ceia Bay. Bonnetheads, one of the smaller species, roam the seagrass meadows of the bay, while adult hammerheads and bull sharks patrol deeper waters near passes and channels.

Not to mention the Mako and Tiger Sharks they get too.

On a side note. I'm going tear up the pompano Wednesday and Thursday out in the chandeliers. The tide and wind will be perfect.

Always a great time when you go surf fishing in Grand Isle early in the morning and swim out to the sand bar. After hammering the specks for awhile swim back to the shore and pull up 7-8 fish heads on the end of you stringer

Always an exhilarating experience.

You feel a tightness in the line for about one second then pop and the whole stringer is gone.

My FIL was telling me about doing that in Grande Isle felt a tug on his stringer and pulling the line up saw seeing 3 sharks fighting for the fish on it.

if the average person knew or saw just how many sharks hang just off the surf zone at nearly every beach in the US... nobody would go in the water..

Why? That's more comforting - knowing they're there and that they always have been. And you know what? 99.9% of the time...nothing happens. They don't want to eat you.

pretty sure nobody would go willingly swim in a pond if there's a gator hanging out at the bottom even if he's "always been there and haven't hurt no one" 99.9 % of the time

Not at all. You are the one that started a pissing match because I described a bull shark as "aggressive". I think you are the one with hurt feelings.
