Was at Navarre Beach this weekend and within 100 yards of a 5 footer. Didn't stick around long enough to find out what kind, but he looked big from the shore when i got there in Phelps like speed. yeah, I know, beta...

I feel like this happens every year.

Although I did hear about a girl in Ft. Lauderdale getting bit while dangling her feet off the edge while tubing behind a boat in the canal. frick that

A friend is a medivac helicopter pilot in the Fl panhandle and they do runs up and down the beach regularly. He says the the beaches are normally swarmed with sharks.

go snorkel just off the surf zone... you'll see them....

big ones, little ones, medium ones....

This is why you should feel safe swimming. If they considered us prey they would attack us all the time. Most attacks occur in low light or water with bad visibility....mistakes by the shark.

Hell there have been a couple 600 plus pound sharks caught right near the beach in Destin this year

yeh over the last 10 years I always here of 800lb plus makos being caught within a few hundred yards of the beach...makos aren't known to attack though...usually offshore and prefer colder waters.

Had about a 7 foot hammerhead swim between me and my brother in gulf shores last year. We watched him from about 50 yards out go right between us. We were about 10 yards apart. Good times
