I'm all for skip day. Ours was a good time and I feel like almost every senior participated.

I also don't see an issue with giving those that choose to go to school a little something extra.

If the school caters to the students, that kind of defeats the purpose of skip day. What the hell are you skipping if the students cry about missing stuff at school?

If you show up there's a little bonus for you but I won't give you a penalty for skipping? seems pretty fair.

We used to sneak into school drunk, and be at the calculus class. We really needed the extra credit, and she wouldn't rat on us.

Only because the short bus with the lift turned around in your driveway so mom could put you in the bus every morning.

I teach almost all seniors. Am I an a-hole for telling my classes that if they want extra credit they better come to class tomorrow and do the test corrections I am offering?

I feel like they if they want the extra credit to help their grade bad enough then they will sacrifice senior skip day.

It's a jerk move, but if it is not mandatory and does not affect their grade negatively then I see no problem.

Why can't they sacrifice senior skip day to do the test corrections that could pull their grade up 1 or 2 letter grades?!?!

Because those frickers are thinking about what they will do with the rest of their life.

It's extra credit. That's hardly a power trip. If they don't need extra credit then there is not issue.

If they didn't do well and need the points, then they should probably show up; they should have done better I guess.

You seem to take this very personally though.

Is this for college? I didn't get the memo.

We had 8 out of 40 people show up to class on Friday. It became a final grade extra credit day at that point

Can't blame them for trying. Let them get half the points by taking them home. Tuesday.

Had ours last week. Couple of our teachers did what you did, but there was no way in hell we were going to school that day. Everyone went to the beach and had a blast.

I had senior skip when I was a senior. We told the teachers about a week ahead of time when it was so none of them would really schedule anything that day. They didn't necessarily approve but they understood. We went to a classmates house with a pool boiled crawfish and drank beer.
Senior skip day is one of your last chances to hang out with some people you may never see again. You want to cheat them out of that so they can get an extra point that you can just do the next day anyway? Douche of the day

Yes, you sir are an a-hole.

Power trip is nice name calling for the OT. I'm surprised they haven't went apocalyptic teacher bashing on you, which you probably deserve. It's not about you bro.
