i do kind of wonder what my life in texas would look like if i were making the same money there

I’d make the same no matter where I moved so it’s not a big deal for me.

I’d never move to the mega suburbs of the cities in Texas like many have unless a gun was held to my head though.

That's a joke. If you knew what I made and what I do you would be pissed. I look at that kind of position as a specialty and should pay a lot more

That's in the 7th ward. NOT mid city.

Canal and broad lol. Maybe you make it 6 months without being shot or having your car stolen.

You picked two of the worst areas in the entire city.

I was gonna say. I love how many people on this site are totally invested in making sure you know LA is a shithole.

You left, we get it. We don’t care.

Not saying it’s completely irrelevant but New Orleans was expensive before Airbnb entered the market. Sure it’s only made things worse but spending the last 100 years not building anything is the bigger issue

Not exactly feasible unless you plan on pushing people out of homes and subsidizing the development, have you actually been to New Orleans?....Meanwhile, NO and LA could pass laws restricting Air BnB firms and private equity firm home ownership

Yep. Had to leave for a while to establish myself in my industry.

Unless you are in an engineering focus that's in demand for the petrochemical industry, Louisiana is generally not the best state for salaries.

New Orleans doesn't have a housing stock problem. It has an issue with the availability of housing stock in safe areas. Basically it's like every other city, only worse.

But that means more opportunity to transition. If they can do something about he crime, the city will have a wider variety of available housing, and be far more competitive.

bizarre. I mean that’s not even a year end bonus for a developer in CA

That sounds exaggerated, but I don't know anything about that. However, keep in mind that gasoline is $6-$8 throughout California, and houses are twice as much. California is expensive af!

Right. You never hear about Kansas City or Albuquerque. It’s always San Francisco.

Maybe a little

Mid-level SE/Senior SE at FAANNG and other select companies can pull in 220-450k+ total comp
