I'm literally looking at the redfin map of houses for sale right now.

Want to know how many 3/2s are listed in uptown or midcity for 260k or less?

Zero.

This was during covid. But they kept playing the mask and vaccine games and prices were going up so i left the city completely.

I havent looked in like a year.

Also was just thinking, not many of my friends lived in a 3bed. Everyone was 2 bed 1 bath shotgun side by sides. So thats what you would be buying in some of those areas.

Thats what i was living in, one side of a shotgun double.

That essentially was why IBM opened here in the first place. They were promised a tax incentive to hire like 250 people, and they missed the mark by about 100 because they thought they could come here and offer 70% of their usual pay to new grads and they’d just gleefully accept it. .

I took a $35,000 pay cut in December of 2019 to move back home in New Orleans area from Houston.

Finally got another raise recently to put me back to what I was making before I moved home.

Took 3 years.

I would find some low-priced houses in say midcity or uptown.

I’m not sure what you consider low price, but 260k maybe gets you in Kenner. Prices are outrageous right now.

LA is a rough state for the middle class. If you want anything decent you have to pay a premium, which really strains the budget.

Upper class and low class have no issues here. Upper class can afford the premiums and low class doesnt give a shite about having them.

Sure but it's just funny that an example of someone being able to make "good" money in Louisiana was someone working the equivalent of 2.5 full time jobs.

I don't in any way begrudge the homeowner that is refurbishing a room or adding an apartment out back and renting it out, but these capital investment firms gobbling up real estate in cash deals to either sit on and wait for their capital partners to buy their own and speculate up prices, or AirBnB them....Wish nothing but bad things for them.

In fairness there’s plenty to do in LA that will pay you good money. But without college education, yea you’re gonna have to work OT.

Did someone pull up the carpet and recently discover a trove of undeveloped or developable land in New Orleans proper?

So i just did a quick search found a 3 bed 1 bath in midcity for 154k. 1233 sqft.

a 4 bed 2 bath, which is two untis of 2 bed 1 bath for 210k in midcity.

So say youve got to put 10k into it, you are below your 260k.
