Not exactly feasible unless you plan on pushing people out of homes and subsidizing the development, have you actually been to New Orleans?...

Countless other cities managed to figure out how to redevelop the heart of the city.

New Orleans is just married to the charm despite the “charm” is often rows of rat infested shotguns houses

That sounds exaggerated, but I don't know anything about that. However, keep in mind that gasoline is $6-$8

Now you're exaggerating

Tell them to throw in homeowners insurance and it’s a deal.

family ties helps keep a lot of people in the state.

Also this is a major reason why so many people in Southeast Texas are either from Louisiana or have family ties to Louisiana. The amount of people around here that have connections to Louisiana is insane. At times it doesn’t even feel like Texas it feels like an extension of Louisiana.

Yup, depending if OP can get in and pass the interview process. He hasn’t said what kind of developer he is, which 100% makes a difference with salary requirements.

Did you do a COL comparison?

This is a misnomer in LA now. State income tax, high sales tax rates, sky high car insurance and home insurance rates. And a real estate market that’s just fricking stupid in any place that you actually want to live with zero infrastructure to support the prices demanding.

I really want to move elsewhere

Outside of the "good" parts of New Orleans/Metairie/Northshore, sure.

"The New Orleans area is expensive for no reason."

Sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong with this statement.
There are very specific reasons why New Orleans is expensive.
1. Home ownership- crime is so bad, people pay more to
own a home in a relatively safe area.
2. Schools - public education is so bad in New Orleans,
people want to send their kids to private schools,
which are expensive.
3. Insurance Rates - I don't have to explain this to
anyone from New Orleans.
