I can absolutely understand why an officer would want someone to roll down their window. Someone can pull a gun out, shoot out of the window and have the window used as some type of shield. It might not be much of a shield for a gunshot, but a cop has reason to question why someone might not want to put their window down all the way.. And like I said, to not comply to that request is just being a jackass who is causing yourself more problems than anything.

I just wanted to see your (lack of) logic.

There is no lack to the logic. You know who doesn't get their window smashed and then cuffed? People that don't act dumb like the bitch in the video.

he did give a lawful order once he asked her to exit the vehicle.

Oh, sop the woman was the idiot, just like I thought.

Nevertheless, he is supposed to be the professional and should be able to calmly handle a situation like that without it having reached the point of breaking the window.

He did calmly handle it. The bitch was the one continuing to escalate it.

quote:

Now, I will not excuse her actions of locking herself in the car. That was childish and uncalled for. At that point I understand why he broke the window and detained her.

And yet you say I lack logic even though you have the exact same conclusion? Not very logical of you, eh?

Does she legally have to roll the window all the way down?

I don't legally have to give a couple of thugs my wallet if they ask for it at gun/knife point, but it's probably in my best interest to do so.

Certain situations in life are unfair and shouldn't happen to people. But shite happens, and you can either be difficult about it or you can weigh your options and make the choice that keeps you safe and out of trouble.

This woman may be well within her rights, and may well have her day in court to address her grievances, but now she has a smashed window and had to waste time dealing with it.

The alternative? Roll down her window and avoid all of that nonsense.

He could have easily slipped the clipboard in without putting his fingers in danger.

Even had she closed his fingers in the window:
A) It's not going to hurt him as they are designed not to do so
B) She would in fact be assaulting him at that point

Yes, she was being difficult, but she was within her rights to not roll the window all the way down.

No dumbass. Try to keep up.

Keep up? I think you are the idiot missing the point. I am simply asking, when someone is stopped or confronted by police, is it that mentality that causes police to to excessive action? I am not asking if that specific scenario, I am asking if its people not complying with simple request that causes things to escalate.

Would you rather be a smartass who tries to argue your rights or just do as you asked (as long as its not any type of extreme request), let the cops do their job and go on about your day?

And she could have not been a count and made the whole process a lot simpler.

Irrelevant.

Yes, she was being difficult, but she was within her rights to not roll the window all the way down.

So you are defending her. Got it.

Yes, she was being difficult, but she was within her rights to not roll the window all the way down.

Yeah, I think they both unnecessarily escalated the situation.

What's so fricking hard about not being an a-hole when a cop asks you to do something

This

I don't always agree with all actions of the police but just do what is asked if you and don't do illegal shite.

I'll never question a cop or his/her actions in the process of whatever he's checking me out for.

Nothing better than a monday morning quarterback. But do you not get the fact that the police want to eliminate any type of threat? You can't make assumptions. Put your finger on the fricking button for a second or two, let the window go all the way down. BAM.. No problem,

She was. The officer was also within his rights to ask her to exit the vehicle. She was the only person who broke any laws here, therefore she was arrested. It's a pretty open and shut case, IMO.

A six person jury gave her 360 days of probation and 75 hours of community service.

She was a total bitch. He was a total dick. He originally pulled her over for a brake light being burned out. He should have said, "Your brake light is burned out, get it fixed. Have a nice day."

She was a single mom, part time student, and part time worker. He is a campus cop at UCF. Can't we all just get along? Was the need to write a little ticky tack ticket so strong in him that he had to escalate it to bitch and dick levels?

Not sure, I don't know what the rules are concerning cooperating with a police officer.

I was talking more in general.
