One of us knew it was a burned out brake light. One of us thought all of her tail lights were broken, creating a dangerous situation. That makes you stupid. The way you argued it made you a dick. Know the difference.

Which makes it irrelevant.

Trivia, by definition, is irrelevant. Feel free to stop arguing a point we agree on.

And you're still melting like the bitch in the car.

I see now that you don't know what melting means. I am contemplating not answering you anymore as my level of pity for you rises.

Would you rather be a smartass who tries to argue your rights or just do as you asked (as long as its not any type of extreme request), let the cops do their job and go on about your day?
Not speaking to the video(couldn't load it up at work), but I think the issue is this question is always posed, like you did here, as an either/or. Would you rather do whatever the cop says and go on your way, or would you rather say you have a right to do whatever and possibly make things much tougher on yourself.

The problem what that question is...I should have a right to do either one. I can be nice and do whatever the cop says, which is probably what I'd do in real life unless the cop is being wayyyyyy out of line. But if I don't want to do everything a cop says, the cop should know the limits of my rights and allow me to not do anything he doesn't have a right to force me to do with no issues.

Hell, I don't even know the actual law/rule on rolling a window all the way down, but if she's not obligated to, the cop can still ask her, and once she says no and leaves a crack big enough to hear him, the cop should continue his business as he normally would(again, haven't seen the video, speaking generally)

You're making it sound like just because one cop did something they are all capable of it. That's a pretty broad brush to paint with.

No, I'm saying I can understand her not wanting to roll down her window.

Where are brake lights again?

You're trying really hard and just failing.

ummmmmmmmmmmm

Do I need to watch the video to comment on something like this:

quote:

What's so fricking hard about not being an a-hole when a cop asks you to do something?

My comment addresses how that mindset can sometimes be used to cover up shoddy police work.

I don't, and especially not because of one isolated incident. If that's a good enough reason for her, I hope she never leaves her house or interacts with anyone else. Otherwise, she's not following her own logic.

It makes you look like a dumbass when you post it in a thread about this particular video.

Are you really defending that woman's actions?

He is asking if it's legal. If it is not illegal in that situation to roll the window all the way down, and what the cop did was illegal. That is probably why he was asking .

No Chris. Acting like that woman is what every cop wants during a traffic stop.

I'm guessing you aren't a female. And I can't imagine that just because one cop we know of was convicted of assaulting women that others haven't. That doesn't mean that all or even most would but it's possible that one could so she doesn't want the window down. Also, why does the window need to be down?

Her thought process is completely irrational.

That goes for every profession everywhere.

How do you not see how irrational that is?

So you can have a quick and easy interaction that doesn't turn into this shitshow.

Good god. Just watched the video. Woman had it about half way down and he starts with his BS. She should not have rolled it back up.

I am not the type to listen to what someone tells me. If anything, if someone "tells" me to do something and they have no impact on what I do, I will do the opposite just because I can. The whole thing about would I rather be a smartass and try to argue my rights or comply and just let the cops do their job and me deciding to just comply, I am just being realistic.

Depending on where I am, if I am stopped for speeding, I just do what I am asked, take my ticket and get it fixed. One time I got a ticket in an area I couldn't get a ticket fixed, I thought "I was going to show them by not paying". I also sent a letter explaining my side of the story, blah blah blah.. You know what happened? I had a warrant out for me in that parish and had to pay even more than the original fee.

If someone is afraid the police could be a threat to them, just be more aware of your surroundings and if possible, try to pull off somewhere that has more people around, etc. But the chances of getting stopped by a policeman who has a certain agenda (like to rape a woman) is probably close to the chance you have of getting into a major wreck (that I am assuming).

I think asking someone to roll their window down all the way is a reasonable request from an officer. I am sure if you ask the girl was not rolling down her window worth a year of probation and 75hrs of community service, she would probably say... no.

But again, I don't think that's the right question to ask.

The better question is why she felt the need to not comply at all in the first place.

Yes she has to legally roll the window down. She was being detained for a violation.

So many people try and use DUI checkpoint logic against being pulled over for breaking the law. fricking morons. lol
