I want to get a Lurcher. Anybody ever had one? A lurcher is a Greyhound/Border Collie mix.

I would not own one of those cat hybrids. Too many wild tendencies I am told.

F1's are the only ones that they say have the wild tendencies. F2 and down are fine

Volunteer at a shelter just once & you see how awesome the dogs are you will never want to pay a breeder again.

I've had two expensive dogs in my life an Olde English Bulldog that I loved but would definitely would not get another one. Care costs and health problems for Bulldogs are ridiculous. My other was a Neapolitan Mastiff from Italy, pretty much a living breathing 240 lb Gargoyle. If I had the money I'd buy another tomorrow. Super intelligent, gentle, and cool as shite. The best 4 legged family member I've ever had. Lifespans just suck on big boys like that, 7-9 years if you're lucky.

I've owned horses I've paid more than that for. But they all paid for themselves in the long run

No.

Unless it is a horse. Then that's cheap.

My wife paid $2500 for an Australian Labradoodle 1.5 years ago. Our GSD passed away and, while I loved that dog, I didn't want another that sheds so much. I thought she was crazy when she told me what that dog costs, but she rarely spends money on anything, and works hard, so I didn't give her shite. He's a great dog. Doesn't shed a single hair, has never pissed on my floor, and is really good with the kids.

We paid $4,000 for our Portuguese Water Dog and it was worth every cent. I will own a PWD till the day I die. Best breed I have ever owned.

We also have a mutt/rescue - lab/german shepherd mix. She's a neurotic lunatic.

I love them both and I may have a house full of dogs in four years once I get these damn kids out of the nest.

If they watch the rescue videos where they rescue a pitiful dog (I rarely watch the first part too sad) and see the dog afterwards, they'll go for a rescue.

Though my horse was free (ha! No such thing as a free horse) and is worth his weight in gold.

Even though he's an a-hole.

I'm in the market for a 4 legged partner. I went to a couple nearby shelters and always left feeling guilty because I didn't take any of the animals home.

Some of the best are a-holes.

I can't wait to get back riding again (I had a bad fall).
