Pets that cost 2500+, are they worth it?

Now this comes from someone who has owned 3 English Bulldogs over his life and a French Bulldog. So I've obviously dipped in and purchased a few myself, however, why do people people pay that much for pets that have no guarantee.
Out of the 4 dogs I've purchased for that amount I've had 9, 8, 8, and 3 years out of them. Was the 10k or more I paid worth 35 years of dog I've had? I'm not sure for a pet when you consider how much I've spent on vet bills and other things such as food, grooming, toys, etc
So are these types of animals worth it?
I'm in the process of buying another dog and seems a lot of mixed breeds are going for 1000-2000 that I never would have thought could get that much money.

Why do you try and put a monetary value on a living creature.
IMO, that ain't right.

Depends on breed. I have Cavaliers and yes, you can tell the difference between the $500 ones and those that go for over $2,000. The more expensive ones have better fur and fewer health problems. Breeders also tend to be more responsible.

My dog costs $75 from a rescue place. That covered his first round of shots and a microchip for him. He is the fricking shite.

My adopted mutt from the shelter for $50 is worth more than all of your expensive English bulldogs put together.

Yeah the two I currently have are maybe 1000 between them and I know the one I have is 300. Seems I will ve going shelter dogs or cheaper breeds from now on.

fewer health problems
usually the mutts are healthier because the innate problems associated with certain breeds have been bred out of them

Tell me more, we have been thinking of getting one. As for rescues, frick that tried it twice both dogs were bitters.

I just got done playing with a Serval kitten at Cabela's... they're $9,000 and you need a special permit to own one... they get as big as a dog and will eat your face off...
If i had 9k to spend on an animal, I would
ETA: they're cousins of the cheetah and lynx and descendants of lions
ETA2: I meant Serval, my b

Was a great dog, friendly, good with kids, hard headed, had some medical issues with breathing and infection in the eyes. Ended up living 8 years and she was blind near the the end.

Why did your dogs die so young? When you pay that money you are paying for a good bloodline where they live long, healthy, hopefully disease free lives. I'd be interested in hearing causes of death for all those and the average lifespans of the breed
