Patricia just completed one of the all-time great runs going from tropical storm to Cat 5 in less than 24 hours!

It's going to be a hell of a flight for the Air Force Reserves they have flying in for a recon right now.

Sub 900?

I saw this earlier.. It is suppose to go into Texas right? Moving ENE. This thing might be a rain maker for La.

The remnants of this could actually restrengthen in the Gulf and it will also flood parts of Texas.

Recon will for sure find a crazy small eye, it will be very interesting to see what else they find.

I'm interested to see what the latest model runs spit out with the significantly deeper cyclone.

That first map can't be accurate depicting the central pressure at 998 mb.

That is terrible, there are surely a lot of people in its path that are ill-equipped to deal with something of this magnitude. Average Mexican worker earns about $400 a month, and it's hard to imagine the affected areas having the infrastructure to handle this. Keeping them in my prayers.

Yep. It intensified 85kt in 24 hours, the most gain in 24 hours since 1997.
he eye is moving north-northwest at 10 mph (17 kph). Maximum sustained winds are estimated at 160 mph (260 kph).

A dangerous storm surge is expected to produce significant coastal flooding near and to the right of where the center of Patricia makes landfall. In addition, Mexico's national water comission, CONAGUA, warned Thursday that waves of up to 12 meters (39 feet) may crash onto beaches near the landfall point.
Yep, I have no clue what media coverage is like down in that area but I imagine a lot of people will be caught off guard. Fortunately, it is a small system and should start to weaken as it moves towards landfall. Looks like it will come in just to the N. of Manzanillo.
