If Cantore went to Puerto Vallarta or Manzanillo I would have tons of respect for his guts. Not so much for his common sense maybe.

This is horrible.

I can't find any models. What are the chances that Louisiana is impacted by this and how much rain/wind should we expect?

I wouldn't plan on taking that trip, unless you're going to help with cleanup

Cat 5 with 200mph winds is like a Torando that last for 6 hours! You not not going in 2 weeks mind as well make new plans!

Prayers sent to Mexico they're about to get fricked.

What are the chances this thing clears Texas and rebuilds a little in the Gulf?

So, if I'm not mistaken, this bitch now has the record for the fastest sustained winds ever recorded in a hurricane, but it still hasn't broken Typhoon Tip's lowest pressure of 870mb, correct?

Correct. It's the strongest by wind speed and the deepest by pressure recorded in the western hemisphere. It still hasn't beaten Tip, but if recon could stay up longer it might have ended up close.

Waiting for an eye wall replacement cycle. More like praying for one for Mexico's sake and I don't even believe in God.

Can someone please explain to me like I'm five years old how old the barometric pressure characterizes the strength of a hurricane, specifically why lower pressure means a stronger system?

TIA

It has less pressure to be strong so it can grow and thrive at its own pace. It probably had good parents.

If you put too much pressure on something it will crumple and be a weak little bitch. Sometimes though the high pressure makes them thrive.
