Jesus man I don't know what historians you read but please cite some of these esteemed historians. I've personally met with and talked to most of the top Civil War scholars, professors from Yale, Penn, Columbia, Stanford, Virginia, UGA, Richmond, CUNY, Stanford and they'd laugh at you.

Fact the South outlawed the importation of slaves from outside the country, the Union had no such clause.
Good god the international slave trade ended in 1808. The reason why the confederacy prohibited it is because Virginia and South Carolina and the upper states were making too much money off of the domestic slave trade. Had they allowed international importation of slaves this would have collapsed the economy of the upper South who were selling off many slaves to the lower south.

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to destroy this retarded myth.

1- Who is "they"? The "blacks"?
2-You do know that these numbers pale in comparison to the number of defacings of black properties with raciall epithets etcetera in recent years?
And no, I am not condoning either.

I don't understand why people get offended so easily in this country. Seems like some people dedicate their lives to pointing out offenses. Maybe they just have too much free time. I'm usually too busy to get upset about petty shite.

The confederate Congress specified that black soldiers were to receive the same pay as the white soldiers. The Union army’s black soldiers were paid less than the white soldiers. A black soldier in the Union army would have been paid $10 a month with a $3 clothing fee taken out, leaving the soldier with $7 a month. White soldiers were paid $13 a month and were not forced to pay a clothing allowance, which is almost twice as much as the black soldiers. By contrast the Confederate army paid their privates of both races $11/month until 1864. Equal pay for both races in the federal army did not come into effect until June 1864. The Confederate Army also authorized a salary for black musicians.

I hope they leave all the graffiti up. Let people see it everyday. Remind everyone what lawlessness is about. Eventually everyone will have something they care about burned or vandalized.

Could you even FATHOM the outrage and uproar that would come about if people started painting "Quit killing each other" .... or "Quit being stupid" on Martin Luther King statues around the country..or Malcolm X paintings??? This country has officially reached the heights of lowdom.

Really the only white people that care about this are more pissed about selective outrage and hypocritical hate. The anti-flag crowd is using the shooting in SC to push an agenda. There was no outrage over the confederate flag before the shootings and confederate symbols didn't prevent anyone from doing as they wish. The funny part to me is that blacks will scream and holler about their rights, yet I'd bet the majority of them are fricking pissed about gay marriage being legal...

Blacks are the ones who need to get the message that
Black lives matter first.
Black lives matter first.

My apologies on my memory of the number. Black Union soldiers made 1/2 not 1/5 the pay of White Union soldiers.
Do the esteemed historians you've spoken to refute that the South was willing to abolish slavery if it meant there freedom? Jefferson Davis was already reaching out to other countries prior to the war and knew it had to be done in order to obtain international trade and become less reliant on the Northern states in commerce.
The South was willing to trade slavery for independence but not visa versa towards the end of the war when defeat was becoming more immanent.

I bet you that some white culprits are responsible for the defacing of monuments. Liberal douchebags.
