Black confederate soldiers were not given firearms and were only used for menial and labor intensive tasks
FWIW at least they were getting paid for there hard work, must have been a new concept for them.

When I start seeing that spray paint slogan defacing Monte Carlos with rented rims, then I might think it has some meaning.

I would vandalize this confederate monument.

Fix your own damn culture and stop critiquing others. It is the black community in this nation that seems to be habitually civilly disobedient. Or deflect/ignore the issue like you always do.

Those are 7 different articles released in the past 48 hours from Baton Rouge and New Orleans alone where black violent crimes/murders occurred. Care to comment on that?

I don't understand why people get offended so easily in this country. Seems like some people dedicate their lives to pointing out offenses.
The easily offended are a product of their insecurities.

What positive argument do you have for keeping images of oppression visible everywhere?
In Poland Hitler and the Nazis aren't iconized everywhere to "remember" what happened. They are in museums and the statues and memorials are of victims, resistance and survivors.
If you are a good neighbor and you know something of no gain to you emotionally upsets your friend and neighbor would you not want to remove it so your neighbor and friend feels better?

I never said otherwise this is all completely true and I agree with all of your post. Northern bankers made lots of money on loans for Southerners to buy slaves. Insurance agencies in the north made a killing protecting the domestic slave trade. The steamboat industry was a $200 million industry around at 1860 and the north was manufacturing steamboats and northerners were working on steam boats to transport slaves and cotton. Furthermore you had tons of textile mills in the north manufacturing cotton. The northern economy benefited tremendously from southern plantation slavery.
Simply because I'm condemning the Confederacy and don't agree with this revisionist lost cause argument doesn't mean I don't understand that Northerners benefited from it as well . It's not as if Lincoln was some perfect saint who advocates negro equality. I understand all of this I'm not delusional who feels compelled to erase the complicity of the North and the faults of the Union. None of this makes slavery more acceptable or somehow less evil.
ETA: I'm sure all the people bashing me will conveniently ignore this post.
No, I actually took great note to this post because it is the only mildly factual thing you have said in some time on here. I even upvoted it. Most of the time you speak off of broad generalizations and childish emotion. Well done.
ETA: My question still stands from the last thread you left unsolved...

Why blame him for all the future actions that expanded federal power? Is it his fault later presidents took his war time measures and introduced them during peace time?
quote:
Oh the irony here... So one can blame slavery for the poor actions/behaviors of black society today, but he can't blame Lincoln for the poor actions/behaviors of government today? Which set of rules are we playing by? We can either blame history or not blame history, but let us be consistent with it.

This.
No one has erased Nazis from history. Monumnets aren't allowed in their honor however.
People seem to be be confused about erasing history & honoring traitors

So you defend your home against invaders and get labelled a traitor. I am sure the families they were defending disagreed with you.

Let's go back to discussing LSU's lack of quarterback play. It's much more interesting and amusing.

I now understand why Germany has banned Nazi propaganda. It gives birth to this type of nonsense & revisionism.

It's difficult for some to think on their own. You can't blame weak minds for simply regurgitating what has been told to them.

Going to have to agree here. Upvote for you.
CSA =/= The National Socialist German Working Party (Nazi Party) damnit.
One set out to exterminate a race, the CSA (even if you go with the narrowest view that they were 100% about slavery) certainly didn't want to KILL their valuable property. Just two entirely different things here. Quit equating them to being equal.
Geez. I will probably get banned for calling slaves "valuable property."

This isn't revisionism you fricking dolt. The vast majority of soldiers and officers in the Confederate army weren't fighting to keep black slaves in chains. Why would they? They didn't own slaves and had no reason to wage war over them.
Of course, this is assuming you comprehend that less than 1/5 of the population at that time actually owned slaves. Judging by some of your posts, I highly doubt that's the case.
