This plan also is US 80 in Alabama. It's a comparitively rarely used highway as it is now, but believe it or not, this interstate proposition is racially motivated. US 80 goes through several of the predominantly black counties (that is a parish, to stuck in Louisiana types) and several black leaders have pushed to have 80 upgraded to interstate standards in order to bring in industry and jobs to the area.

It's this type of nonsense that allows the extremist on both sides to continue to flourish.

Hmm....so leaders in the poorest counties in Alabama and probably ranking pretty poor nationally, want a road built because it would provide a positive economic benefit....the audacity!!!!! Those militants!!!!!

Well, that would make the LA welcome building on I-49 north of Alexandria make sense. I always wondered about it....

I-49 is a seperate Interstate that is to run from Alexandria to New Orleans through Morgan City. Also there is Interstate 910, which is the Westbank Expressway, it will be the spur between 49 and 10 other than 310.

In 100 years once it's all done, It'll be nice.

I'm not on either side here.

I'm of the camp to improve/upgrade roads where needed most.

Our governments are too strapped to just spend billions to upgrade a highway which MAY bring in another business.

Put the billions where it ALREADY is needed.

Not debating the amount of traffic on the road....it was the unnecessary decision to bring race into the issue.

It ain't about black or white for those counties.....it's GREEN.

It's fine to say, "hey why are the spending this money here when fixing the problem with the I-10 tunnel through mobile is so much more pressing."

Would building a bridge in Mobile be the "WHITE" leaders trying to so something for their white cronies who will have the "wink wink" lowest bid and make tons of money off the deal?

The BLM and Trumpkins have taken the "making everything about race" to a different level.

Biggest benefactor would be Natchez and Adams County Port. Would assume that's the reason the Port route loops to down in TX, rest of port access could be received in Natchez and to Fort Polk and Beauregard in under two hours. Tons of Military units already use HWY 84 to connect Hood, Polk, and Shelby.

Also the amount of people bypassing BR and the 1-10 cluster would be massive.

They've been working on 49 since the 80s, and it's still not done.

They've been talking about 69 for a decade, and they can't even settle on the route.

Don't hold your breath waiting on 14 to open.
