The upcoming GT350 will have an NA flat plane crank V8.
Yea, and no AC. Good luck driving that in the south.

All previous R version Mustangs have been sans AC as well FWIW

Ah, point still stands. No AC is miserable. Then again if you have that kind of money it probably wouldn't be your daily driver.

Why does it fracking matter if it doesn't have a v8....who gives a rats arse as long as it's puts up the numbers. It could have a twin 4 for all I care. This car is pure sex.
BTW...no one is complaining about the new Acura NSX or top of the line Porsche 911 engines being a 6.
Congrats to Ford for injecting some excitement into the 1st day of the NAIAS with the new GT, Raptor, & Shelby 350R. I think GM's contribution today was the....electric Bolt. Lol

For a second, I thought this was a Nissan GT-R.

While I can understand the marketing advantages of not putting a V8 in the GT, this car just begs for a V8. I've said many times on here while I had my 911 that my previous Camaro 2SS was just more fun to drive on a daily basis. While they put up nearly identical stats, the V8 just felt faster. It took me about 5 seconds in my new Vette to completely and entirely forget about my Porsche. There was a big empty parking lot next to the dealership in Georgia, and before I took the Vette onto the street, I drove around the parking lot for a couple minutes to familiarize myself with the car and get situated, seat and mirrors adjusted, etc. The first time I shifted it into second gear, the car nearly got sideways on me. That just didn't happen in the Porsche. Ford and Chevy both NEED a $150K+ super car. They just do. I hope the mid-engine car is not a Vette. Chevy needs a Vette, a Z06 for a balls-out horsepower machine that is relatively affordable, and a super car as a completely separate model. Likewise for Ford. But American cars just HAVE to have a V8. I don't know if I've mentioned my Vette on here before ( ), but holy crap that thing is incredible. I've never had a more pleasant driving experience. It makes me absolutely giddy. I can't even imagine what the 650 hp Z06 feels like.

Please.
Gotta love all these car and truck threads on these boards. First 2-3 pages is all "it looks like this" or "Why doesn't it have a V8"

No! American MUSCLE CARS like the Mustang & Camaro always need a V8 option....super cars like the Acura NSX, Porsche 918, Ford GT, Nissan GT-R don't need it.

This car. Is built. For racing. Specifically endurance racing, like the original. This year it will race in IMCA's Tudor Sports Car Championship. The max engine size (with boosted power) is 4L. It'll be in the GTE class at LeMans next year, which has similar regulations. More info: LINK

Ford can build a car for racing for any class they want, and can use that r&d to develop technology for any prodcution car line they want. But if you are an American car company releasing a supercar for consumer purchase, show off what America does best. Muscle.

Super cars aren't muscle cars though.
