If some Saab-driving lunatic wanted to jeopardize his kids' life by driving wrecklessly and trying to prove a point, he might have reason to be upset.

He mad. The victim tried his best to calm him and it just made him madder!

Nope. I'll post up at the door with a firearm while calling the police... if he breaches the door then he's a dead man.

One would think that choosing the safe route(based on the hypothetical you quoted) as opposed to the one that may involve a shootout and you possibly dying would be the best decision, but that's just me.

And you know he did this how?

Actually I like that he did this. Little pussies think they are tough when they are in the cocoon of their car. IF the guy with the camera was a dick, I'm glad this happened to him. I wouldn't do it because I'm not a psycho, but I'm glad he checked the guy.

Jesus....2016 hopefully does not become the year that people shoot their stupid guns at someone who knocks on their doors.

You would not be wise to use your sidearm in that situation. You would need a very self-defense friendly DA to not get charged.

Even if found innocent there is probably a minimum of $15K in legal to get out of it.

I keep seeing comments like this but I haven't necessarily seen anyone suggest that they would have shot him based on this scenario alone, rather that scenarios like this and the obvious potential of a deranged person trying to harm or kill you on the road is an exemplification of why they keep a firearm on their vehicle.

I wouldn't have shot this guy at this point either, but I'd for damn sure have accessed my pistol and made sure he knew that I was ready to use it if he comes through the window or door.

Right - but in general that is why I carry, for when I have to neutralize a threat. But HAVE to, and choosing to are different. Even if legal I would rather not kill someone unless I have to.

He was arrested, charged, and made bail.

A year later, the da declined to press charges.

Wonder what his legal bills were?

He was arrested, but he was never charged. From that article the grand jury did not vote to bring charges and the DA declined charges.

I honestly think the only reason the DA took so long in declining charges was because of the Trayvon Martin crap at the time. If that weren't the case, they would have been declined at the outset.

This

People with guns should be less reckless, in general, than they otherwise would be. The stakes are higher.

well, I'm not sure what we're arguing...

police arrested Landry, 33, on a charge of attempted second-degree murder after he shot Coulter, then 14, after finding the teen in the fenced-in area of Landry's property in the 700 block of Mandeville Street.

He was arrested and booked, not formally charged.

My point was valid-he spent a ton of money on lawyer(s) even though he was never formally charged.

Even if he was right (which he very obviously was) it still cost him a ton of money.

That may have played a role, but historically, in many cases, you are going to have to "prove" you were justified in the shoot. It's gonna cost a buttload of money.

Never talk to cops after something like this, without a counsel. Cops are absolutely not your friends.
