Or they will see that they can automate a lot of tasks and that physical worksites are increasingly obsolete in a digital world.
Except for people like me who work on the automated systems. My company doesn't allow external access to control systems, because some moron let his kid play with a reactor back back during the dial-up modem days.

If you are able to do your job remotely why would you ever be required to work in an office again ?

I haven't been to our office in three years.

WFH, IMO has to be done a certain way to be effective.

Do everything you usually do, shower, normal work clothes or close to it, start time, etc. establish a work environment.

Do you work from home? Because I know a lot of people who do (including myself), and none of us do this.

You just have to have self control

Nah, it's pretty awesome. It can get a bit weird when your SO is the only person you see for days, but you can make up for that with an active social life outside of work hours.

I can walk around and handful of offices around time that are fully staffed and see how little work most of them do. It’s crazy we’re still stuck in the 40 hour work week mentality. I have a fairly busy job at times, but I’d say on average in only spend 30 or so hours a week on actual work.

Agree for bullshite curricula. Liberal arts , etc.

But, science and engineering you need to be on campus.
Labs, collaborating with others, etc.

Let's be honest. Online classes are by and large bullshite.

I’d rather be one of the only people in a skeleton crew in our office than be stuck at home. I think the majority of people here like this idea bc they don’t do shite at work.

I've worked both in office and remote, and I've found there are more distractions in office. People just walking up to my office wanting to chat, or walking around the office and stopping to chat with others. Granted it still happens a bit, when my boss calls me just to bullshite, but it's much less often than what would happen in the office.

As long as your work has defined deadlines, it's relatively easy to stay on track while working from home.

Depends on what type personality you have.

I have worked from home from five years and love it, wear shorts everyday. Eating healthy is also easier, no drama, do not have to deal with idiots all day, save your vehicle and gas money on and on and on.

Yeah people can just read the PowerPoints themselves instead of sitting and listening to a professor read it to them verbatim

Working from home has its place for a limited portion of employees. But if you don’t ever require going meeting with people in person your job must suck, I would hate that. Like knocking out code all day. Ugh.

I definitely think there can be a good combo of working from home a couple days a week and going to the office. In reality working from home can give you 2 hours of your day back pretty easily between your commute, getting ready for work, lunch hour, etc.

I've been fortunate enough to work from home for the last couple of years with the stipulation that I go into the office 1-2 times per week. I get WAY, WAY more done from home. There are way too many distractions at the office.

Companies will start to wise up on this and allow people to work from home. Of course you have to trust your employees.

I can work for 4 hours at home and get much more done in 8 hours at the office. That means I can have more time for myself - exercise, healthy eating, taking some time to relax. All of those things I can do and still get much more done than I do in the office.
