Got a feeling this backfires.

Was thinking the same thing about LSU and their plan to go online
Not so much about how little we do but how unnecessary it is to physically be on campus

Maybe this thing will get people out of offices permanently and doing meaningful things like being with family, fishing/hunting, playing sports, creating art, cooking, writing

Smart businesses that send there people to WFH will monitor which departments keep up or increase their productivity and tell them they don't have to come back to the office.

That's assuming this shitshow lasts long enough to make a reasonable assessment.

We’re on two week increments. 5/15 work from home for two weeks at a time.

People are still gonna have to work, fricking hippy.

Or they will see that they can automate a lot of tasks and that physical worksites are increasingly obsolete in a digital world.

WFH, IMO has to be done a certain way to be effective.

Do everything you usually do, shower, normal work clothes or close to it, start time, etc. establish a work environment.

Don’t jerk off.

Too much.

Not really true depending on the job.

I had to work from home today and it sucked. I only had my laptop and I really needed two monitors and it was slow and it just sucked. Even with all the communication tools we have, it’s not as face to face communication.

With that being said, our new office as a rule will not have assigned desks and will have less desks that workers under the assumption that more people will work from home and office capacity generally ever really gets above 80% capacity anyway.

For starters, decent bosses already know how little the employees do. Also, working from home is not a new concept. Many companies have been doing this for years. For the most part, productivity typically increases and companies save money on office space. Of course some people suck at it and need to be at work to avoid the distractions at home. But overall, it can be a positive. Personally I think there is a value to the relationships formed at the workplace however I am more productive at home so I prefer a mix.

This may be TMI so you’re warned. But I turned on the old Wicker Man movie from the 70s. And as noted above, I was working from home. I’d never seen that movie but there is an early scene with a naked Britt Ekland

Something about that scene man where she’s knocking on the wall. Man, I had to turn the movie off and I was extremely hot and bothered for like 15 minutes but I couldn’t do anything because I kept having to work and it just annoying.

This is why I could never work from home full time, personally.

There are certain facets of my job that walking down the hall is just soooo much fricking easier and faster than calls or emails. I could probably learn to deal without that ability.

The killer for me would be permanently linking my home with my work. I have a great home office set up (nicer than my regular office tbh) 2 27 inch monitors and a nice big desk. But then I'd have to work from actual home every single day. I'd probably rather work in an office the rest of my life vs try to go to a coffee shop or library or some shite with a laptop.

A lot of people that have been WFH have said the key is to take breaks from working at your actual home and bring your work somewhere else every so often. I have no interest in doing that. It would be torture.

I've said this in the other recent threads on this topic. I'd love to work from home 1-2 days a week. If my options were full time in the office or full time at home, I'd probably have to pick office.

At what point does the line blur between a fricking hippy and an individualist libertarian?

I’m genuinely fricking curious because I’m starting to agree with Bernie on corporations but I believe in the right to own any fricking guns including automatic belt-fed rotating turrets.
