This is a pretty cheap political tactic to gain race-cred after a horrific event.

Poydras might be on the chopping block too
Obviously, Jeff Davis Parkway in Midcity. Could rename each block after whomever 50 people care about, since that seems to be all it takes to rename streets in the city now. Blocks are getting chopped up for dead Reverends all over.

Poydras' reputation was that of an especially indulgent slaveholder. Yet, while on business in Philadelphia in 1795, a major slave rebellion began on his Alma Plantation, spreading to several other area plantations. The conspirators, who evidence shows to have been urged on by white Jacobin-minded immigrants, were quickly apprehended and several were executed.
Julien Poydras willed that his slaves and their offspring be freed 25 years after his death, and all were to be provided with annuities in the meantime. Though his heirs supported his wishes, the time of the anticipated manumission (1849) coincided with the growing abolitionist movement. Fearful of its consequences, the Louisiana State Legislature prohibited any manumissions, and Poydras' slaves remained in bondage until Union troops entered Pointe Coupee Parish in connection with the Siege of Port Hudson in 1863 — an additional 14 years

Looks like New Orleans will just have to wipe the slate clean and start completely over since "The Father of New Orleans" was such a horrible white man.
Bienville
Bienville
quote:
In 1716 he led a campaign against the Natchez Indians, and two years later, after Cadillac’s recall, Bienville was restored to the position of commandant. At that time he founded the settlement of New Orleans on the Mississippi River, and four years later he made that city the new capital of the colony.
quote:
During his second term as Louisiana commandant, he captured Pensacola from the Spanish and instituted a strict “Black Code” regulating the conduct of black slaves.

Is it time for people to start changing their middle names yet or is that later on?

Why even argue with somebody on Facebook on a topic like this? It will get you nowhere. It isn't even worth it.
People want the statue of John C. Calhoun in Charleston to be torn down now because he held slaves and the church where the shooting happened is on Calhoun Street. John C. Calhoun is a trending topic on Facebook. Think about that.
