But seriously, from the liberal mind set, why is it wrong? Because there are laws against it? What if we changed to laws to make it ok? Is it fine then?

you sir have failed in trying to make a point

No doubt. And in both situations, honesty from the beginning would have been a way better plan that caused way less damage to the institution.

Protestant preachers are just as likely to be arrested for things like this. You just don't hear about it.

Maybe, but the fact that there has been documented evidence which shows corruption and carelessness associated with the Catholic Church (shuffling around priests who were molesting and turning a blind eye to allegations) is what makes it seem like there is a systemic model of molestation within the church.

That's why I don't understand why they don't let them get married. You will obviously try to get enjoyment out of something if u can't have the real thing

for all of you saying "the Church"...are you meaning the Catholic Church? or the Protestant Church?......the 1st Saint Redneck Southern Baptist Church?.....because from what I understand....the Church is the body of Christ....not an organization or a certain denomination or a building...please clarify...

I do think that clergy remaining abstinent and not marrying is a huge part of the problem...fwiw...

So why do married men abuse their children? It's just if not more common.

I don't like to look at sin like that. People are tempted in different ways and at different levels.

Do you see the difference in of the ways people are tempted and at what levels? In other words, there's a big difference in being an alcoholic than being a child predator.

Marriage wouldn't cure all of them. it's the fact that the position allows them to have access to kids.

However I think they should be allowed to get married

I was looking into this after I saw this post and what is amazing is all the misdirection you read about that I think is influenced by pressures from the Catholic church.

I did find a site that is comprised of a group of religious minded people that answer religious questions.

They may not be correct in their summation but it goes with my thinking.

So you decide to frick up adolescent children because you can't be with females? That's airtight logic.

And in the Eastern rites of the Catholic Church, they can marry. It is possible to change. It isn't doctrine, and there are exceptions. But there are many pros to unmarried priests as well.

When I say it isn't doctrine, examples of doctrine would be marriage (lack of gay marriage) or male priests (lack of female priests). These are doctrine they cannot and will not be changed by the Church, even if some uninformed Catholics like to say they will change one day.

FWIW, we have a poster in our catholic church which shows the new priest candidates. All look to be upper 20's and extremely weird. It's actually pretty scary. I remember a few from grade school and they were strange, strange kids. I hate to judge but it's hard not too. Not sure I'd want any of these guys being around my child.

I can't wrap my head around the correlation between Catholicism and pedophelia.

Religious man blows up building. Safe bet he's a Muslim
Religious man molests children. Safe bet he's a Catholic. What gives here?

Guy has sexual inclinations that are illegal, immoral. Guy's religion is seen as deterrent to acting on sexual perversions. Joining clergy means no expectation from people that he enter into normal, heterosexual relationships.

The answer to your question: "abstinence."
