LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) -
The Diocese of Lafayette reported one of its priests was arrested Wednesday on child porn charges.

According to the diocese’s website, Rev. Felix David Broussard, 50, a priest in Breaux Bridge, was arrested by Louisiana State Police on charges of possessing child pornography.

Officials with the Louisiana State Police say the investigation began in July 2016 after a complaint was filed.

"During the course of the investigation, over 500 images of child pornography were identified on the computer," reads a press release. "

Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel stated Broussard has been placed on administrative leave from active ministry and the diocese is cooperating with the investigation.

Broussard was arrested and booked int he St. Martin Parish jail.

I can't wrap my head around the correlation between Catholicism and pedophelia.

Religious man blows up building. Safe bet he's a Muslim
Religious man molests children. Safe bet he's a Catholic. What gives here?

Well, there's better than a 1 in 10 chance that any priest you know is fricking little boys and girls so this shouldn't be surprising. What's surprising is that it wasn't covered up by the church.

He was a priest in Kaplan for a while. My friend couldn't stand him. I can see why now. She has good judgement in people.

I can. I think it has a lot to do with not letting the priests marry. It attracts a certain type of person that doesn't want to ever have a family and reproduce.

Aren't priests suppose to abstain from sex?
Could be wrong but I think I've heard that.
All they see are little choir boys all day. Guess that fricks you up.

I know a guy that used to be a priest, he matter of factly says that almost all priests are either alkys or pedos, and in many cases, both

Protestant preachers are just as likely to be arrested for things like this. You just don't hear about it.

While you aren't being unfair, based on the scandals and the proof that not only was this happening, over and over, that the church was willfully moving priests around, giving them all fresh hunting ground - there is also quite a bit going on with protestant youth pastors.

I'm Christian, not particularly "religious" but I think that churches are an important part of and source of strength for our society. But, we put these sexually repressed clergymen in positions of authority over our children, with little to no oversight or commonsense that secular youth groups (BSA had their scandals, too, but worked hard to repair that image, IMHO) seem to have in abundance, and then get shocked when a percentage of them cross the line into criminal deviancy and preying on young people.

And these crimes are as bad as they get - we know that a certain percentage of victims will grow up to become abusers of other children, thus perpetuating the cycle - in a horrific process by which the molesters "reproduce."

The moral of the story - take care of your own - no one else is likely to, and no one else can be counted on to.
