Actually Protestants pastors have molested more than the Catholic Church has ever...and yet their are fewer protestants than Catholics...not that it makes things better...because I believe their is a special place in hell for pedophiles and molesters

It's just that the Catholic Diocese is richer and an easier target for the media...

I think you're right, just based on what He said:

Matthew 18:6
“But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."

Marriage wouldn't cure all of them. it's the fact that the position allows them to have access to kids.

However I think they should be allowed to get married

There are a bunch of jobs dealing with kids, but it doesn't make them want to do stuff with them. The urge for affection would be calmed down a lot if they were married. The real thing is better than imagining

You aren't factoring in the thousands of these cases that are swept under the rug, settled in private and kept out of public court.

No, but are you factoring the possibility that a majority of these claims could be being made falsely for a huge payout from the rich Catholic church who just wants this issue to go away and not exist as much as we all do?

You do have a point, but I'd be willing to give the 7 year old that claims he was buttfricked the benefit of the doubt.

1/10 is a conservative estimate.

Meh, maybe through the sex scandal ordeal, but I find that number a little harder to believe with new priests and/or priests who have made it to this point without any accusations.

However, even if it is just 1 in 25, you're talking about an incredibly high rate compared to the general population, which is where the concern should focus.

I've seen some say that the pastor before him left the priesthood pretty unexpectedly. May not have been Broussard that put it there.

think it has a lot to do with not letting the priests marry.

Baptist preachers can marry and I know for sure of a case in cenla where a preacher molested several girls in a small town. It makes better news when a Catholic Priest does it. Just like when a "pit bull" bites somebody or a cop shoops an "innocent" black man.

As would I...but of course the parents can plant the information into the childs head...which is even worse...for a parent to put their child through such a thing for a payday is just as bad as the crime itself...not to mention the fact that most claims are from "victims coming forward many years later in adulthood" after they realize a quick buck can be made just because something really happened regarding a priest they happened to have been in school with...

I'm not saying mostly, some or any of the claims are false...but greed can easily sway some people...

As said before Their is a special place in hell for pedophiles...and for anyone that would put their child through a fake memory to extort money too.

Wish we could've traded this one to ISIS for the old priest in France.

I know it's been going on for centuries. I'm asking why.

By refusing to allow priests to marry, the Church Naturally Select Out known heterosexuals. Now there are pedophiles and homosexuals who are married to the opposite sex, but by Naturally Selecting Out this group they loose a large Gene Pool population who prefer adults of the opposite sex, in a sense they are choosing a population who says they can DO WITHOUT an Intimate relationship with the opposite sex. IMHO this is a serious contributing factor. My 2 cents.

I was raised strict Roman Catholic, we adhered to all customs, rituals and beliefs. I was an Altar Boy, considered Priesthood seriously enough to interview, attended St. Agnes, St. Gerard and St. Aloysius. I was never mistreated, spoken to inappropriately or sexually approached. The priests I worked with were terrific human beings. I no longer practice this faith.

It has nothing to do with celibacy. A priest could rent a whore if it was about sexual desire. These sick fricks, know there are alter-boys/girls present or were present and they can get close to them. They were pedos before they signed up. They should all be castrated.

I never said it had anything to do with Celibacy. I said it had to do with a population who does NOT want celibacy that is being eliminated.

I realize this sounds like celibacy I am talking about but actually I am talking about a specific mind set of an individual who is being eliminated from participation as a priest, they are Naturally Selected out by the Roman Catholic Church.

Two priests are stopped at a police check-point when driving back to the church. After checking their I.D.'s the officer hands them back and says "Sorry to bother you Fathers. We're looking for a couple of pedophiles".

The priests glance at each other and respond in unison: "Okay. We'll do it".

Oh, how I long for the good ole days of the Catholic Church when the local priest would give it up and run away to Europe with one of the pretty wives in his congregation.
