Jazz fest isn’t worth the trouble. I rather pay to have an assigned seat to see someone.
Why not both? I spent Thursday night at the Saenger and all day Friday at the Blues Tent.

A shooting? Mid city New Orleans?
A shock.
I’m shocked.

Don't forget to vote today for Sheriff Hutson's blank check tax increase. Now that Mardi Gras is over, she and her lieutenants are getting back to fighting crime.

Saw a video interview I think on WWL of a couple in town for Jazz Fest, who wouldn't allow their faces to be shown. The husband remarked that the shooting had ruined their trip. He didn't say if they were leaving, or would ever return. They sounded like former locals back in town for a weekend visit.
Been to Mandina's many, many times and never felt that part of Canal was an unsafe area. City officials don't have an answer for the fact that no part of Nola is immune to this senseless, frequent and tragic violence.

It's why middle to upper middle class African Americans have been leaving New Orleans in droves for 25 years. They can have good kids who get caught up in violent bs by association and relations. It's better to just get them the hell out of here. It has left a major hole in the black community down here
They come to our communities with their shitty kids and the shite begins all over again.

The first of the "he was a good boy, dindu nuffin" stories begin to filter into the media on the Mandina's homicide victim. Nola.com story interviews his parents and goes into detail on his school, football, music, and fashion interests. LINK
Search the Orleans Prison Docket and we find two 2018 arrests for Simple Robbery and Cruelty to a Juvenile, then Attempted Simple Burglary and Contributing to Delinquency of Jeveniles.
The father himself has multiples arrests, mainly for pot but one for crack cocaine. Why the son's arrest record was deemed irrelevant to this story beggars belief. If you're taken out in a multi-gun, automatic hit and you have prior brushes with the law, you likely were up to no good. Let's cease with the premature hagiography here. His likely criminal activities may have endangered a whole restaurant full of people.

Pretty much the same things happens every time one of the I10 shooting victim names get released.
Can normally find a legal trail several instances deep for these innocent victims.

So that assistant DA can just let gun criminals go?

will JBE ever admit that New Orleans is a failed state, and send in the LA National Guard to assist?
No, but per WWL, there will be more state troopers.

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans will once again see Louisiana State Police troopers patrolling the streets beyond the French Quarter.
Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced her support for New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Michelle Woodfork's request to Col. Lamar Davis and the Louisiana State Police to activate Operation Golden Eagle 3.0 as it is called.
The operation will see more state troopers patrolling New Orleans neighborhoods beyond the French Quarter. Mayor Cantrell says this will free up NOPD officers in other areas.
"At the request of NOPD Superintendent Michelle Woodfork, the NOPD and LSP are pleased to announce the return of Operation Golden Eagle,” Cantrell said.
NOPD and State Police partnership rekindled in Operation Golden Eagle 3.0

quote:Does it matter? I remember that neighborhood being one of the few bright spots in Orleans Parish a few years ago. Lots of professionals with young kids were moving in. There were things you could walk to and enjoy. Nobody is thinking, like, oh, thank God it didn't happen right by the Fairgrounds.
For the out of towners, this did not happen near the Jazz Fest. Don't listen to these NOLA doomsday crowds

Probably another drug related crime.
People say drug dealing and possession is a non violent crime but in many cases drugs are the root cause of violent crimes.
Innocent people are victims by just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
