I don't think the closeness to Jazz Fest matters much, I think what gets me is that Mandinas was our favorite restaurant. Their food was excellent at (what we thought were) non-tourist prices.
OK, our time was a couple of decades ago before the armed guard was there (at that time armed guards were at a favorite Chinese restaurant on Carrolton and at Calico Corners just off Canal during broad daylight).
I really hope this doesn't hurt Mandina's because what more could they do to make it safe?

Busboy was targeted and killed. Not sure who the other person that was injured was. Did not believe it was the security guard though.
