No. I hate that fricking app.

This.

It's crazy how clueless I feel with Waze. I'm in my late 20s, and that app makes me feel like I'm driving in that terrible Speed Racer movie. My phone looks like what I imagine phones look like on acid.

Way too much info for me.

Does Waze allow you to download an area to your phone?

That's a biggie for Google Maps, being able to download the entire area withn a 1 hour or so radius around me, so I don't have to use data every time I'm trying to go somewhere I haven't been before.

Or for example, I just made a 4 hour road trip to Austin last weekend, so I just downloaded the entire area. Took up a big chunk of my phone's space, but it was only needed for 2 days. That saved a ton on data.

wow. so vehicles on the side of the road, DEBRIS IN THE ROAD, cops nearby and alerts there is a looming traffic jam in 20 miles is too much info?

i usually have 'voice off' so it only alerts me about road conditions and cops and it cuts in on my car radio so my phone screen can be off and on the passenger seat next to me.

I don't use my school alumni anymore. I thought the 1% was basically unattainable so I didn't worry about changing

Yes. Waze is owned by Google. It's basically a fancier version of Google maps for driving

This. This was taken just now. Worth its weight in gold.

My actual commute home today.

Which route would you take?

It bugs me that it says things like "Turn Left" instead of trying to pronounce the name of the road. I realize sometimes Google Maps gets it horribly wrong, but it's helpful in a busy area I'm not familiar with.

The indicators are too small now and arent obvious what they are anymore. Also you can barely see the one for police if you are traveling a route because it is almost the same color as the route line.

I literally never look at the map for that.. it speaks those warnings. I only look at the screen is I need to change routes or something

No, I don't travel that much and use g maps when I do. Even then, nav apps are barely top 5.

You're driving blind if you don't use Waze on long trips. Google maps is slow on the limited data feeds it gets from Waze

I do but on our last trip the only thing that slowed us down was an accident and g maps and Waze both told me about it and offered to reroute.

All I'm missing is cops anyway, right?

Eta: I get what you're saying about update times. Luckily we were far enough out.
