People think I am crazy until they check into it but depending on age look into either a nanny or an au pair. We paid less than the higher-end daycares and our lives and our kids lives were much better for it as well.

Currently have a nanny that runs about $720-800 a week. When we were shopping daycares pre covid, it was around 1350-1450/month inside the loop.

what exactly does $1200/w buy you as far as daycare goes? A top end Nanny would be cheaper.

Buddy pays nanny 45k a year

She works 7-7 on weekdays

They pay her extra if needed on weekends

We paid $2,400/mo in Chicago when everything was factored in. Dropped to about $1,500/mo. For our second child in suburban ATL

People need to do what they need to do but I think it’s so fricked is that women in this country have to go back to work when their children are only 6 weeks old.

They dont have to go back

Nannies really are only required for the very young ones, au pairs are much cheaper and do great with older kids. The big benefit is if you have multiple kids the price increase for the nanny is very small for additional kids.

10 years ago in Katy I was paying 220/wk fir infant and 195/wk for pre-K-4. The 195 was then discounted 5% for multi-child.

I’d imagine today they are close to 300/wk for infant
