Repeal the 1968 Gun Control Act and remove machines guns, short barreled rifles and shotguns, and supressors from the 1934 NFA, and create national reciprocity for CCW or mandate Constitutional CCW nationwide. Good start.

No point in even having the conversation as long as both parties insist on having porous borders.

Let's just say they want to ban high capacity magazines (as an example). We can't keep drugs, counterfeit goods or undocumented workers out of the country. Any illegal weapons would just be another type of contraband for the cartels to smuggle into the US.

Why aren't these guys using fully automatic weapons, RPGs, and grenades?

I'm not trying to say we need to start banning stuff, but I love how people make out that the black market is at everyone's fingertips.

Make it as difficult to get a handgun as it is to get a suppressor. If you want one, you can get one. It just isn't cheap.

So you want only the rich to be able to protect themselves?

The solution is to:

1. Put the mentally ill in an environment not a prison but a place where they can be watched and we can make sure the medications they are prescribed are taken.

2. Mandatory 25 years without parole for a second felony where a firearm is used.

Number one would fix the crazy problem, number two would fix the rampant crime in many urban areas such as Chicago.

I control my guns and you and everyone else control yours. You don't try and control mine and I won't try and control yours.

Eliminating schools from being complete gun free zones. Allow the faculty to carry.

These people are shooting up gun free zones for simply that reason. You get a higher body count when no one can shoot back.

*I do find it interesting how these never happen in the South.

Repeal the 1986 Federal Gun legislation, the 1934 NFA act and lift embargo's from China and Russia and allow CC across state lines without having to pay for CC permits.

The biggest thing we need to do is get our fricking mental health system under control. There was plenty of indicators on a lot of these people that just didn't get caught.

I see this come up a lot with the gun control issue, especially when it relates to mass shootings, but you can't help people that don't want help. I'm not saying that I disagree with you on mental healthcare in this country, but you can't force any person showing signs of depression/instability to get mental treatment. It's not feasible.

outlawing guns would make all the problems go away... it worked with drugs - right?

Here is what I posted on the politard board.

The only gun laws that will stop this type of massacre is a ban of all guns and a sweeping collection of all guns in the US. There is no legislation that will stop a human intent on killing from killing. All the feel good legislation passed in NY, Connecticut, and Maryland post Sandy Hook will not do anything to curb mass shootings

A dumb arse shoots a beloved lion in Africa there is public outcry and the public blames Dr. Dumbass that pulled the trigger.

Dumbass shoots up a community college there is public outcry and the public immediately blames the gun.

Let's look at the real root of the killings. The person behind the gun.

We have a human condition problem not a gun control problem.

We have basically just become a nation of spoiled brat pussies that think everyone owes us something or that we have a right to be heard. This is the result of giving all the kids a trophy instead of the winners. A bunch of this kids probably just needed to have their arse torn up with a belt when they were younger and they would be such frick ups. If were not happy it has to be someones fault other than our own and this is complete bullshite. Nobody owes anybody a damn thing.

I don't know.

What should we do about drunk driving deaths? Over 10k a year.

What alcohol laws should we change to curb that?

Who are the ones willing to die to try to accomplish this? It's not the local police.

Opinion with no proof.

They probably could if they really wanted to. The stuff is diverted to the black market all the time. The UK had two police officers killed in a gun/grenade attack. Think about that. All their laws too.

You wouldn't look at the proof anyway. One thing you can't say is that more guns = more deaths.

It was but then again you probably only know the Hollywood version of it.

I lived in Kennesaw, Ga for a while. It was a law you had to own a gun. Not much crime. police didn't enforce it, but people aren't going to break into your house knowing you most likely are white, southern and own a bunch of guns.

now they can outlaw the sale of guns, but guns that are taken care of will last forever. the only way to get rid of them is to take them. I'd bet a bunch of people would die before giving up that right.

Nothing needs to be changed. The problem with the "more gun laws" movement is that they seem to forget that crazy people and criminals tend to ignore the law.
